Corps of Cadets Unit Choice Problem

I just got accepted into Texas A&M for chemical engineering in the fall of 2011 and I definitely want to join the Corps of Cadets. I want to get commissioned into the army so I'll be doing army ROTC but my main question is can I join a Navy/Marine technical outfit? I found one that looks really good and alot of fun to join but I was wondering if that would conflict with me doing army ROTC.

It is possible, but you need to talk to Corps Staff to get the okay. Have you done a Spend the Night with the outfit you want to join? That is a good way to really check out if they would be a good fit for you. My son is in an Army outfit, and one of the leaders in his outfit switched over to Air Force, so it wouldn't be the first time one branch was mixed into another branch.

And congratulations on getting into A&M Engineering! You're obviously a very motivated person to be majoring in one of the most demanding courses of study at A&M and to take on the responsibilities of being a cadet in the Corps as well. Gig 'em!

I actually went up once to see another unit this spring and it was an army unit. They were more family oriented while I wanted something a more military. But November 11th I'm going to see this Navy/Marine Unit(K-2) so I'll ask questions then. I heard you could be in different ROTC's then the unit and thats why I'm trying to see if it'll work but I have no problem talking to the staff.

Also thank you, I'm extremely excited to do the Corps and I can't wait to start engineering! It looks difficult but definitely the most interesting to me!
