Books (esp STAT 211)

Last year I saved a TON of money by getting my son's section #s and buying his books from Amazon. One ended up not being needed ($80 mistake), but I saved > $600 so I was still happy.

This year I have found that every stinking book is inside some type of "package" on the MSC website with a made up ISBN (not the one for the book, but the one for the package). Is there anywhere I can actually get the individual book ISBNs? I know there was a law that says the universities have to provide this info somewhere.

Has anyone taken STATS 211 recently? The MSC website says "POSSIBILITIES AND
STATS" by Johnson but neither Amazon or half seem to have that book. Is there a "real" book for that class? Or is this something that the prof wrote and is only available at school? Also, for CHEN 204 there seems to be only a package. If we buy the book can you buy the rest of the "stuff" separately?

thanks!

have you checked some of the other bookstores in College Station?
If not, I would just call the MSC bookstore and ask for the ISBN's - they are required to give it to you by law now.
I have also saved a ton on amazon. Also check Barn's & Noble. I just bought a new book just now for $80 instead of the MSC price of $150. The $80 was even less than the MSC used price. Used Barn's & Noble authorized sellers - like Amazon marketplace - and used a B&N gift card my daughter won from Aggie Mom's club.

You might want to lay off on purchasing the STAT 211 book for a bit if possible. I took that class, and bought the book (which was expensive, new edition) and didn't look at it almost at all. I looked at it for a couple definitions, but no examples were given through the book. I believe STAT 211 courses all assign the same online homework which is where a bulk of the learning is done. All the information I needed to get an A in this course was in class. I am one of the most heavy book self learners. I love going back to the book and learning in most my classes, but STAT 211 was an exception. You may get a different instructor that bases more from the book, but just a heads up.

Good luck!
