I will have completed all degree track D classes by the end of this semester. I am taking 12 hours this semester only classes I had left were cal II, physics II, and chem II. I have taken everything else. Mechanical was first choice computer was second.

Ah ok. Did you complete the ENGR 111 & 112 equivalences? That way you could hit the ground running at A&M by taking the upper level courses.

no, but i was told that if i was admitted for fall 09 I could take them in the summer and start upper level courses in the fall which would work out well for me. What about you? What discipline did you apply for and where are you at as far as classes? I have a friend at the community college I am attending now that got into electrical last year with a 3.4 but had to come back due to money issues. Im hoping for the best. I am accepted to Texas Tech and UH so if A&M doesn't come through I'll probably end up at Tech.

I applied for mechanical as my first choice and aerospace as my second. I will be done with all the courses on my degree track after summer. Right now I am taking physics I, calculus II, and chem II. Then calc III, physics II, two governments, and a cosc course (equivalent to ENGR 111) over the summer.

ampzor, aren't you supposed to have finished Phys I and II, Calc I and II, Chem I and II, and ENGL 104 BEFORE you apply to engineering? Or is this only for Biomed Engineering: Texas A&M Biomedical Engineering |

Its recomended. But not required. This is from the mechanical engineering website. Quote:
With respect to the last factor, academic record, the Department favorably views those students with a proven record of excellence in math, science, and engineering. In addition, the following factors generally increase the prospects of being admitted:
Completed a minimum of 12 Semester Credit Hours of core math/science courses from the CBK (Common Body of Knowledge). These CBK course are: ENGR 111, ENGR 112, MATH 151, MATH 152, PHYS 218, PHYS 208, CHEM 107, and ENGL 104. Course descriptions can be found at Welcome To the Registrar | Its not required that you complete it, but it will certainly help.
As for your comment about auto admit. I found this on the ESSAP website for transfers. Quote: |
Carefully review the recommended courses to take (found in the two tables, Track B or D, in Catalog 130, pg. 54). Successfully complete 24 credit hours from these tables, Track D (for most engineering majors) or B (for computer science) and have a 3.0 cumulative GPR. This is required for automatic admission into the college of engineering. Minimum GPR required for transfer admission to the University is cumulative 2.25 on 24 graded semester hours of transferable course work at the time of the application.
| I dont know though. I never heard of an auto admit. Maybe there is...

Ohh I see, I had just assumed that it would be for all engineers heh.
What did you search to find the auto admit info on the ESSAP website? I'm trying to find one for the College of Science with no luck.

Biomed is usually really competitive. Its probley one of the hardest engineerig disiplins. Umm... ESSAP - Tips for Transfer Students is the website. I went to "Prospective Students" > then looked under "Resources for Applying" and on the right column is transfer info. Click the link called "Tips for Applying - Transfers"

I wasnt talking about academics... Its not as competative as the other engineering majors. For example, a friend who I goto school with transfered to A&M doing engineering technology with a 3.2 and hes not the brightest guy.

Anybody heard anything yet? I talked to an admissions lady and she said two or three weeks or maybe sooner for people on step 3. She also said people on step 2 may be middle or late May and your major might be full by then.

I haven't heard anything yet. I check my ais daily.
According to TAMU :
Most transfer admission decisions are made in early May.
But we all know TAMU is very inaccurate in its estimations (i.e. AIS). I'll ask around and when i get word I will gladly pass it on. By the way, who exactly did you speak to amezquita05? The reason I am asking is because i dont believe TAMU has rolling admissions. I believe that TAMU probably sends all transfer decisions out collectively.
