Jews at TAMU

I hear that there is a long history of anti-semitism at TAMU. Is this true? My daughter has been doing some websearching and what she has found frightens her.

really?

Probably not as much as you think. My sister attends A&M and regularly hangs out with the Jewish Fraternity, and goes to the Chabbad house on fridays. While she's never told me of any outright anti-semitism, there are a fair amount of people at the school who wont be satisfied until they've done their job of converting you. One just has to know who to hang out with. There are nearly 1000 Jewish kids at A&M. It's not UT, but there is a presence.

I just did a little web search and didn't find much. What I did see was over 10 years old.

Having a large student body means having a diverse one...there's always going to be an adversity for any group. I know quite a few Jewish people at A&M, and none of them have ever had any problems. There's a very active Hillel Foundation right near campus (just across the street).

Hey,

I am Israeli and I am coming to TAMU for Fall '09 as freshman. With a little effort I found a Jewish community at TAMU, but nothing about anti-semitism.

I can see this thread has been dead for a while but I would like to explain that there are Jews from Cuba, Mexico and South America who would be both Hispanic and Jewish. The two are definitely not mutually exclusive. It however seems that many identify themselves as Jews and don't identify with the Hispanic cultures, but could correctly identify themselves as both.
