"You're probably way behind the curve in registering for classes."

Is that true? I thought everyone registered around the same time (I'm the mom of a junior, so just trying to understand this stuff early). Whate is the process at A&M?

Wow dchipponeri - you didn't get in with a 1250? That's surprising - I think it's above the average. What was your class rank, if you don't mind me asking?

BTW - a friend of my daughters did not get in and she's in the top 9% of her class. Should be an automatic admit. Yep she did take the SAT. Must be a mistake of some sort. Anyone ever heard of that?

its gonna be a tough year. i heard a ton of people got wait listed. i wonder if people will accept or give up because its a long waiting process.

also i wonder how many people who have been accepted. will decide not to come?

toast11 & dchipponeri: I have a hard time believing you guys were waitlisted. All of the kids from my school with the same stats or worse that applied to A&M, got in.

With A&M's rolling admissions, you guys probably applied too late and maybe that's why y'all were waitlisted...

You are exactly right, i applied at the beginning of January. And not placing blame, but my college guidance counselor told me to take my time with my application as i should get in no problem with my gpa and sat. I still can't believe I got waitlisted, I'm only worried that because so many people did get offered wait list, that maybe they might not admit as many this year, there is a higher probability of not getting in... I'll be fine with Blinn TEAM anyway

Also, I attend a small private school in Houston, and our senior class is 83 students. There is no class rank; however, we do have a top 10% of 8 students and you are considered in the top quartile with a 3.5 gpa or higher

I'm so annoyed. because chances are slim this year. and i really hope to attend. i'm out of state too so it seems a little more likely that they would accept Texas residents over me.

and I'm having trouble deciding what other school to consider.

this waiting is a painstaking process.

Waitlisted:

41% in class. 25 ACT, 1100 SAT. I go to one of the top 100 (56 i belive) best/hardest high schools in the nation, one of the top in Texas. I have over 150 hours of community serivce, sports captian, Girl State (selective government leadership camp). Very excellent resume, and alot of A&M involment.

its not just about grades (yes thats a huge part) but TAMU really looks at other creditials too.

I don't think the time you place your application is that important. Maybe things have changed since, but I got admitted in 06, turned A&M down, opted for Texas instead, had a change of heart mid-June, called A&M back, and got readmitted. I did have slightly higher on the SAT (1300/2100), and my class rank was 20%.
