Yes, but I don't think they notify people until August

Good deal.
Any idea if they still give you the pell grant if you qualify for Aggie Assurance?

Yes you can have both, but I think the Pell grant can only be used to cover your fees.

From my understanding, Aggie Assurance only covers tuition and not fees, books, etc. It makes sure you have enough grants/scholarships to cover tuition. So, if you got a $2,000 Pell Grant per semester, you're guaranteed ~$2,400 in other grants to cover the rest of tuition. I was really surprised at how poor A&M's aid package was compared to other schools.

When I was in the financial aid office last month, they weren't even aware transfers were eligible for Aggie Assurance. They pulled out a binder that had the same info available on the website and referenced that. After verifying, they said the provost will go back through each financial aid file and change the distribution of loans/grants for those eligible for AA. I'm going to stop back in the financial aid office during my NSC to see what's going on.

Apparently the Fall 2009 semester will be the first time transfers qualify AA.

So let's say you qualify for AA.

Does A&M cover your tuition and lets you take the pell grant and other aid in addition to AA?

Mmm, it sounds too good to be true..

I don't understand how it works :/

I didn't get a clear answer when I talked to the financial aid office. They weren't even sure if it covered transfers and had to look it up.

From what they said, they make sure you have enough grants and scholarships to cover tuition. This includes the Pell grant. Then, if you qualify for other grants/loans over the cost of tuition, you'll receive them to cover everything else.
