i would guess that political science at TAMU is better in terms of security issues...and military...

i'm guessing your classmates will be CORP and ROTC folks...

but as long as you take everything for a grain of salt...you should do fine...

This is quite coincidental because I was also going to post and ask about the Political Science Program. Does anyone know what the curriculum is like for those who go Poly Sci Honors? And is it really true what the last poster said about Military and security issues? I know the CIA recruits Corps Cadets, but I don't think it's because of the quality of A&M's security and military track under Political Science. On that note, does anyone know of someone in the corps who graduated in Poly Sci? If so, what are they doing now?

I originally went to TAMU to do engineering and thought that the school was only good for that but when i decided to get out of engineering because of a deep hatred for science. I researched to see other strengths and was surprised that i found our poli sci programs was one of the top ones in the nation and then i though about it and it makes sense because we do have tons of resources in that area due to having a presidential library on campus.

Our recent tour guide was a rising senior majoring in poli sci. Not in the Corps. Very engaging.

I am a senior political science major at A&M. I love the program and the department! The political science building is on west campus along side the George Bush Presidential Library/Museum. They were built at the same time, so it is fairly new. Texas A&M has one of the best Polisci graduate programs in the nation, so there are a lot of perks to being in the undergraduate program. A huge plus is that the classrooms only hold about 30 people, so class sizes are way smaller than any other major classes! Often, there are 300-400 people in a class in other majors, but never political science! Also, since the graduate program is highly ranked, the professors are especially good. There is a political science and economics library a few steps outside of the polisci building, which is rare, seeing that no other majors have their own personal library. On the second story of the polisci building, we also have our own computer lab/ printing room. Through my experience, polisci majors at A&M are smart. Everyone gets to know each other as well because we have our own building, so you will make friends. They also offer a large range and variety of classes. George Bush has an apartment in the Presidential Conference center (where the library is located), and he often visits, so expect to see secret service wondering around occasionally. There are presentations, seminars, and speakers who visit because of the connection with the former president, who is always present and speaks on behalf of the occasion. Political Science at A&M is a smart choice! I hope this helps!

Very informative. I actually plan to major in international relations ( there are other names for it such as Global studies etc...), and possibly minor in economics. Knowing that there are librarys for both of my potential majors and minors is also great.
