Worried about Texas A&M - Chance Me Please

Well guys this is my first post,

My friend keeps telling me I should get in, however I'm VERY worried.

State: Texas
School: Public
Class rank: 12
Class size: 65 (small class size)
Percentage: Top 25%
GPA: 95.01 weighted, is this a 4.0?
SAT (I know they're abysmal): CR - 500 MATH - 520 WRIT-410 (A&M doesn't have these scores)
ACT: Just took it, should be mid 20's - Scores were sent to TAMU
Senior Schedule - No AP Classes were available during my stint here due to the small school size. I have as hard of a schedule available to me.

-Anatomy & Physiology (Elective)
-BCIS
-College Algebra (College Algebra is a one semester class, I will take a College Stats class next semester.)
-College English
-Art II
-College Political Sci
-College Political Sci (Two Class Periods, it sucks)
-Office Aide (Would this be comm. service?)

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Clubs: 4

Sport: N/A

Volunteer Work: Organized can food drives and read stories to kids with BETA club. Office aide may count which would provide an hour every day.

Other ECs: Self taught guitar (have played 3 years), Quiz Bowl State Champion and competed at nationals.

Letter of Recommendations: 2

Also, I'm shooting for a Business Admin major, with General Studies as my second choice. I will be writing the optional essay.

That's pretty much what I see everybody else posting up. If you need more info, please ask.

Thanks
John

I'd say you have a decent shot
Though I would try to raise your SAT scores to 1300 (verbal + math)
That way you would qualify as an academic admit

Are they looking for things like Quiz Bowl State Champion or should I leave those off?

I would definitely keep those
Extra curriculars and roles where you showed leadership are quite important to A&M.

Search "demonstrated interest" in this forum. You will find hints to help you appear more attractive to A&M.

Thanks for that tip, I've attended quite a few events there so I made sure to list them where it was appropriate.

I read about A&M offering free tuition to those whose family made less than 60,000 for the previous year. How true is this?

You have a 95/4.0 GPA, but you have very low test scores. Seems suspicious.
I'd say you'd get waitlisted, then denied. Aim for a 26 ACT/1200 (M/CR) SAT and you'll have a decent shot.

As for the free tuition for families making less than $60k, the program is called the Aggie Assurance Program. Here's more about it: https://financialaid.tamu.edu/Types/...assurance.aspx

Bumping this up because I was just elected as our senior class president and I might be able to get a letter of recommendation from guy who works for Texas A&M's alumni association. How much of an impact will either one of those make on my application?

Senior class president would probably help because they're big on leadership. I don't know about the letter. Ds didn't even send in a single letter. I guess it wouldn't hurt. I'd concentrate more on those SAT scores; that's the most glaring deficit I see. Good luck!

Just checked my ACT Scores.

I got a 25 first try! Lower than most of you here at CC but I am VERY satisfied with my results. Hopefully I'll be saying Howdy! to a few of yall come next fall
