Free Apps!

So I've decided on my top three schools (CCM, UNCSA, and Mason Gross), and I've got my safety school (NKU). I'd stopped looking about a month ago, having settled on these unless I didn't get into NKU (I would find out by the end of December), although I recently found out about CCU and am interested. However, I started receiving a butt ton of free applications from schools (AMDA, York, Albright, Ryder, Wilkes, UofTampa, Seton Hall, and a whole host of others) and I'm unsure whether or not I should take the time to actually fill out the apps. I plan on being a BFA-Acting major, so obviously the school needs to have that, but if the various schools require an audition do you guys think it'd be a good choice to send in the apps and go to the auditions, or would that be too draining?

I can't answer your questions about how draining these auditions would be, but here are some points to consider:
--most BFA acting applicants do more than 3 or 4 auditions, although if you have a safety that you would truly be happy to attend, you can comfortably stop the process there.
--one reason for doing more applications is that, come April, you might want to have more than a handful of financial aid offers on the table. If money is not object, then never mind.
--If it's an audition school and you need to travel to the audition, the application will be a drain on your pocketbook, even if it is free.

Some of these colleges will keep sending you offers until next spring. Hofstra was still e-mailing us in May. I don't know how many of the schools you mentioned have auditioned BFA programs. Rider offers one talent scholarship, based on auditions, but it's for a standard Theater Arts BA program (or so I understood from a representative who "cold-called" us last year). I don't know how selective NKU is, but I hope that you like it enough to feel that you can be happy there, because your other three schools are brutally selective. I'm not sure what CCM's current acceptance ratio is, but I think the rates at UNCSA and Mason Gross hover in the low single-digits. I'd suggest trying to add at least one or two more schools to your list.
