Carnegie Mellon Summer Confusion

This has been brought up before, but no resolution seemed to be reached.

Carnegie Mellon's summer high school drama program seems to be split in two, one half (Summer Programs for Diversity) which is free, and one half (Pre-College) which isn't. What's the difference, and most importantly: do I need to be a minority to get into SPDiversity??

Free? Design - Fees & Requirements - Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity

Hella expensive? Drama Fees & Requirements - Pre College - Carnegie Mellon

Thank you! The suggested email address for questions has rudely not emailed me back.

I applied for last summer. I ended up attending another program, buuuuut I know this much: both programs are the SAME. The "Summer Programs for Diversity" is kind of like a scholarship for the regular summer program. Have in mind that they acceptance rate is a lot slimmer for the Diversity program (it's free, of course it's competitive) and if you are truly not in need of "financial aid", it might be harder to get in.

I'm not sure about the diversity part, because I'm a white female...so I didn't have much luck on that end...but I know someone who is a lot more "ethnic" than I am, and he didn't get in either. So it's more than just diversity. It's also financial need, essays, recommendations, etc.
