I have the same thing. You have a 3.1 and I have a 2.3. I'm pretty sure you'll get in 99%. I've heard/read it's not a hard school to get into so I'm crossing my fingers. I got into Northridge so hopefully I'll get accepted into SFSU but I should be the one worrying about getting accepted or denied. You have a strong chance of getting accepted so keep your head up and don't worry so much. They're just evaluating your application and it's only February. I know they said non-local will get their results in January and February but I'm sure it will be February and March because they have so many applications to process. Best of luck to you and hope you get in, tell me when you do so I can estimate when I should be getting my decision.

okay thanks so much for your response. im just really nervous because last year my friend with a 3.2 didnt get accepted into csu fullerton! thats just ridiculous. i got into csula but man..... I'm not into the LA area. i just wish they would tell me already if i got in or not. i check everyday. i hate this anxiety! and i will get back to you as soon as i hear anything.

Csuf likes at least a 3.4 gpa typically. Its all about completed coursework and intended major tho.

SFSU requires a minimum of 2.0 for local applicants, and 2.4 for non-local. With a 3.0 gpa you're pretty much sure to get in.
I'm an international with a 3.13 gpa in California, but they screwed up on my to-do list, and they just ask me to send my fall 10 transcript...

From what I've heard, SFSU accepts a lot (I mean, a lot) of people from 2.0 and up... It's basically one of the easiest CSU to get in, way easier than CSU Fullerton...

I myself am worried as I'm running out of options at CCSF (I've pretty much completed all the coursework I needed to complete...), and I hope this story of Fall 10 transcript won't get me screwed.

If you're a local applicant (meaning that you are in a CC of the area) and sent your application prior to November 30th, and your major is non-impacted, you're pretty much in.

i wasnt a local applicant. i live 8 hours away in riverside. i didnt know sfsu was easy to get into. but today i got my acceptance letter! i was soo glad. and yeah on my to do list they wanted my fall 10 transcripts too. you should order your transcripts with the express option they have and order another one so you can personally deliver it. its better to be safe than sorry!

He means local as in-state and non-local as in out of state. If he didn't then he should check his facts because sfsu does not require its non-local applicants to have a 2.4 gpa. Anyways so did you get an acceptance letter in the mail while your status online still says "applicant" and "...we are currently evaluating your application..."? Congratulations on getting accepted to SFSU I hope the same can be said for me.

oooooh ok! no i got nothing in the mail from them. i checked my status online last night and i was so surprised to see my status change to admitted on a saturday night. it says "Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to San Francisco State University"
thank you so much! and good luck to you! remember, you should do financial aid because sfsu deadline is march 2 so even if you havent gotten any word on them just do it already

    I think you're in. :)

Oddly, a month after I applied, I received my letter of acceptance. Maybe due to being local.

My admission status still says : "We have received the documents you submitted. We are currently evaluating your application."

I am a non-local too. My residence is in Stanislaus County, but I attended a 'local' Community College. I really I get hope an acceptance letter soon. :) I wonder if some people get their status update before the letter or if they plan it so you get the letter first.

This is one of my back-up schools but I would really like to get in. I like having options lol.

well i got SFSU acceptance letter stevesilvaaa, have u sent your transcripts and checked your admission status on the sf gateway login site or whatever they give you?
csulong beach is hard to get into. plus i heard the surrounding area of long beach is ghetto because my friend used to live there.

katerinas when did you submit your docs? it took them 2 weeks after they put that on my admissions for it to change. i have no clue where stanislaus county is haha im from southern california. and yeah i got the status update before the letter. i havent gotten anything from SFSU through mail.

You should stop saying acceptance letter because it means an actual letter via mail. Just say you got accepted because it's throwing people off - it certainly threw me off.

**Everyone should know that you can know your status online BEFORE receiving your letter whether it's an acceptance or denial.**
PLEASE stop asking everyone when your acceptance letter will arrive or if anyone has received them yet because all of your questions WERE answered by reading the thread. It may or may not have been directly answered but it can be conceived by reading everyone's post in this thread. IF you are planning to attend SFSU just check your status online using your password and username at SF Gateway. It will take a while for the school to update people's statuses and it appears non-local are starting to get theirs slowly now. I say just be patient and wait for your status to change.

NOTE: If you received an acceptance via email you should always follow up with a call to verify. This tripped up A LOT of people at UCSB a few years ago:

Oops! UCSD Sends Acceptance E-mail to Wrong List | NBC San Diego

Apologies if this sends anyone into a panic. This was an isolated incident that happened in 2009 (although it also happened, to a lesser degree, in 2008 - but only at UCSB).

This post is merely to warn people not to reject other schools outright before checking on the validity of email acceptances.

    Haha, that's lame.

Anyway, congrats on those who have been admitted to SFSU. What was your GPA?

My overall transferrable courses GPA is around 3.1/3.2 as an international student so I hope to get into the school as well. I asked my current school (CCSF) to transmit electronically my Fall 10 transcripts. However, this does not state I am taking Math90 and Eng1B (which are required to transfer), so I guess if I got admitted that I would only have to pass those two classes (I think this is typically the case, as you have until Spring to complete the requirements).

Anyway, yeah, admittance/denial letters arrive way after the status on the internet. Within 3 weeks after your application has been completed, you should receive an update of your status. Well, my 3 weeks have started so I hope I'll be admitted in 3 weeks.

jon310 : "Earn a college grade point average of 2.00 (2.40 for non-residents) or better in all transferable courses. Non-local area residents may be held to a higher GPA standard." I made a mistake, but non-local residents are still held to a higher GPA.

Anyway, as for the amount of applications, I'm not sure SFSU received a lot this year. For Fall 2010 semester, students were able to transfer until May 2010, almost by the end of the semester. This year, we had to complete our application almost 1 year before. I doubt there is as many applications as the previous years, freshman and transfer class will certainly be lower, with (hopefully) a similar rate of admittance than the previous years (77%). I wish I could try to go elsewhere but as an International tuition is way too high in other schools such as USF, Cal... And I doubt I could even get into SDSU.
