UC Merced or SJSU or wait to transfer?

I applied to UCM and SJSU for spring 2012 (because those are the best schools that are open for spring transfers) and I got into both, but I don't want to go to either (I want to go to UCSC, I guess)
Which school do you think I should go to?

I can live at home and go to SJSU, which would save money. Also the location is a bit better. Merced does not appeal to me at all, especially with the crime rates there, but the student/teacher ratio and the "University of California" title make me want to go there over SJSU.

I know neither are great schools, and I feel I would be happier at UCSC. However, they are not accepting spring transfers, and I would have to delay my BA acquisition even more if I were to try to go there in Fall 2012.

What do people think is the best route? My major is Psychology, and I am somewhat intent on going to Berkeley or at least to a better UC in hopes of getting a PhD. (3.7 gpa so far)
Is this plausible? Which school would help my chances of getting into a good grad. school? (if any)

Sorry this is so long. Please respond if you have educated opinions, thank you.

Also, would it be possible to transfer from UCM to UCSC? (I'm transferring at the junior level, would it be worth it?)

If you think you can really perform well academically, then UCM transfer to UCB is a choice.

Are you currently in a community college? I'm assuming you are. No knock on UCM or SJSU but you're right in neither are great schools. Are you choosing UCSC to save money undergrad? If so I think that would be the best option. If not, go for the best psych program you can get into for undergrad (Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Davis). They may have better internship/recruiting opportunities than your other choices which may play a factor. As far as getting your PhD, focus on your undergrad GPA, work experience etc. The school name won't be too important as all the UC schools are pretty good. That being said, I like UC Merced, but I think the 'UC' moniker is a bit misleading as it isn't anywhere near the other UC's.
