In the CAS information page they say that their acceptance rate is somewhere around 10-15% and that competitive applicants would have a 3.7 GPA, but I guess that all freshmen transferring, that includes me, should have something higher if their high school record was not that great.

I'm worried that my first quarter GPA will be my downfall. As a senior in high school, I would have had a very good chance at getting into the school, but my first quarter in college I only have a 3.4 GPA. Hopefully they put more emphasis on my high school record. I really regret not doing more research on potential schools in high school.

your ECs make you a better fit for Steindhart, but that is just my opinion, it is not that they are bad... they are just not mmm Gallatin oriented if you know what I mean

Hi guys:
I am also going to apply to NYU. Currently I'm a CS major at a state university, ranking about 110 on USnews.
59 credits completed and 18 credits in progress
3.927 college gpa
no leadership, but many club members.
Many volunteers
high school robotic club founder
second place of a programming contest
honors program
dean's list with distinction(4.0) for two semesters

Hs GPA: 4.0

Good luck to everyone! by the way I am an international student, thanks god, nyu doesn't require TOEFL for those who have taken two college compositions classes! Because I only got a TOEFL score of 84, which is horrible.

What's up guys?

I submitted my common app not long ago and I just got my netID and everything. In the email they say that all communications will be done online, including the decision notification just in case someone wondered if it was going to be mailed.

Applying to CAS from one of the better SUNY schools
30 Credits
College GPA:3.77
HS GPA: 3.0 SAT: 1860
Recs: very personal and very positive. both put me in top 5% of students they have had
Essays: very well written
Legacy: Mom went to NYU
EC's: alot of political involvement working with local politicians, cultural stuff, volunteer etc...

We also are very close family friends with a professor at NYU who is willing to write me a rec of some sort, think this will help?

anyway, what are my chances?

regonkantai, you are a Math major right? You seem to be in good shape as to what your college profile would be. Ec's could be a weakness since NYU says their approach to the applications is very holistic; you also did not post your high school stats although being a junior transfer I do not think they will matter that much
