I limited myself...3 schools all in the Chicagoland area... uh. Not wise, I know. This fall, if not accepted to NU, I will attend DePaul University. Not sure if anyone is familiar.
@Cluelessbelle Thank you so much for your positive outlook! I am negative Nancy so being that you are in the same boat as me, and still have a positive outlook is tremendously motivating |

If you guys are applying to NU, you guys are definitely ambitious and will succeed at whichever school you attend!
oh yeah just curious, are you guys planning to go to grad school? And if yes, where would you apply?

That's great news...however, they intend to enroll only 150 transfers...oh Dear Lord! lol.
After undergrad, I intend on applying to medical school. UCLA would be amazing...they have a great psychiatry program--my field of interest.

@ chicagolak23: Lol, no prob. I don't like be pessimistic because you could get in with "below NU standards" (not saying yours are, lol), it does happen. Really, if you sell yourself well and get the committee to like you, mainly through your essays, recommendation, and current GPA, you'll get in. I would argue that they should judge transfer students easier because college is usually tougher than HS. I know it has been for me.

Possibly an MBA but nothing else. And if I do it's M-7 or bust.

Yep, I'm going to medical school. I'm looking at the Ivies and the like. My tops are Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford. I have to work my ass of and get a 3.8-3.9 before applications for med school start, lol. This will probably be my last free summer b/c of that

@Cluelessbelle Yes you are correct. However, my current CC is NOT difficult. NOT academically challenging. Does NOT have a good record. Reason I went there--finanical struggle and had to work, not allowing my to enroll until one semester after what was supposed to be my freshman yr.
But thank you! |

@chicagolak23 about the transfer of 150. that is low, lol, but they would most likey admit more because other accepted transfers might choose a different school.

@ chicagolak23: Well, you should definitely detail that to them in your essays. Fill them in on why a bright high school student had to go to CC. Always fill them in on stuff like that.
For instance, my HS GPA was terrible, so I explained to them, honestly, why my grades were so poor. Honestly it was laziness. I want them to know that I am far from stupid, I was just really lazy in HS. My college grades prove that I've gotten over that slump.

@cluelessbelle I was thinking to include that within my Educational interruption. Explain the unemployment of my father and as a result, I had to work.
There was also a drastic decline in my grades second semester of my senior year. I was ranked number 5-6 from fresh-first semester of sr yr. But dropped to 13 second semester.
Do you think it would be appropriate to include that portion in my education interruption?

@ chicagolak23: Yes, definitely include that. Let them know why you had to take a break and why you came back. It lets them know you're determined to go to school

Do you think applying to NU schools/departments that aren't very popular might increase odds of acceptance? Seems as though if you are qualified enough and they have plenty of seats open (and do not have hundreds of other well qualified apps), that it might help.
what do you guys think?
