ah...guess that I have to post it again...
Current University: Vanderbilt University
Fall courses:Cal 3, intermediate microecon, Java, Composition
Current GPA: 4.0 out of 4.0
Spring semester: Data Structure and C++, Mathematical Statistics, Existential Fictions, Linear Algebra, Intermediate Macro, Statistics Lab
(All sopho and junior standing). Mid-term report: 4.0
Rec: one from math professor and one from econ professor. Both are really good--I am the best student in their classes.
High School (international):
GPA: 3.8 (GPA deflation Chinese high school. no 4.0 in grade because we count 100 as a 4.0 and 3.6 as a 90. 3.8 means my average of all scores is 95.)
HS Rank: 15/570
SAT: 2230
SAT 2: Math level 2: 800, Chemistry: 780, Physics: 780
AP(all 5): US history, Micro, Macro, Cal BC, Chemistry.
EC's:
Research assistant at Vanderbilt Medical Center, statistics work
Vanderbilt Mobile Applications Team
Vanderbilt Computer Science Club
Vanderbilt Math Club
Vanderbilt Student Volunteer for Science
Internship at a consulting company, statistics and analysis
President & Co-founder of a Volunteer Society, interviewed by national TV
Captain of secondary school debate team
Journalist at a News Agency, several articles on national newspaper
Public Sector at an NGO
Awards, Achievement, and Recognition:
ACM-ICPC regional final
Best representative in MUN
Best debater in regional contest
Vanderbilt Dean's list
AP scholar with distinction
High school model student
Reasons: my major is math and I am very interested in applied math and statistics. But Vandy does not offer a statistics major nor an applied math major. Moreover, for my secondary major Econ, Vandy does not have a good connection of econ and math. And since I want to start my own enterprise after graduation, Nashville, a small city in the south, cannot provide me with enough international environment and internship/job opportunities.

Has anyone received an email with an applicant portal or anything? I haven't gotten an email from the university and it's making me a bit worried.

Yeah I'm able to go on to their site or whatever and check my status of my admissions and financial aid applications and even upload additional materials.

I applied for tranfer! Good luck everyone.
My stats:
Attending: an Illinois, Chicago-area Community College
GPA: 4.0
Credits from my current college at time of trasnfer: 49
HS GPA: 3.4 weighted, 3.2ish unweighted (eek)
*note, my HS GPA demonstrates an upward trend, increasing steadily and topping out at a perfect 4.0 my senior year.
ACT: 31, 32 superscore
ECs/Awards: Mandarin Chinese student (non-credit through my school), work at a bank averaging 31 hours/week (since senior year of HS), running a drive for a local charity, Phi Theta Kappa member.
High School ECs/awards: AP Scholar, IL state scholar, Model Congress with Don Manzullo and Dennis Hastert, Anti-drug club member, Breast Cancer walk volunteer (donation counter), part time job from age 16 on averaging 20 hours a week.
APs: two 5s and one 4.
First generation college student.
Also, my mother has been in and out of jail/prison since I started high school, which I talked about extensively in the common app essay (since it affected my HS performance).
I chose to make my own essay prompt as well.

UChicago's acceptance rate was 4-5% last year...there is no point in posting your stats, after a certain point it really doesn't matter. The essays seem to mean a lot for UChicago, and I don't think a 2400 SAT 4.0 GPA guy will get in if he doesn't have the right "fit" for the school

There is a site, but maybe its not reliable, that lists transfer acceptance rates for a bunch of top schools and lists UChicago at 14%. But then I saw somewhere else it was 4-5% like you and others say. Here's the site I'm talking about. Transfer Acceptance Rates at US News Top 50 – The Transfer Book |

I really hope they do place a lot of emphasis on the essays. I really liked what I wrote, but I probably fall weaker on the stats/credentials.

Nope, no email account. I assume they only give you that once you've been accepted. Not sure when decisions will come out either. Within the next two weeks I assume.

I'm really nervous! This is my third time applying to this university! Every time, I have grown so much. I really hope that the "third time is the charm"!.
