@DemiDyl Yeah. This won't pick up until the fall. Haha everyone is either too bummed about their rejection, on vacation, or they haven't discovered cc yet.

Hi.
I'm attending a CC, and I want to transfer to USC for Fall 13, but I'm worried because I have 2 W's and a D in the same subject, history, should i retake the class? I am majoring in biochemistry and am hopeful to enter Keck School of Medicine. Do you think this will affect me for admission? I will try my hardest to bring up my gpa since its not so good or bad. I already applied for freshman year and it was ok, I was not accepted but I will keep trying to get in so my choice was going to a CC,I'm already 3 semesters in. Should I follow the IGETC or USC GE?
Sorry about the long question lol
Please help!
Thanks

@trojanfighton I've been talking with admissions officers and they say they look down on W's but I really wouldn't stress over history if your going into the school of medicine... To be competitive though I will help you out... Make sure you don't have more than 4 W's in any of the categories I, II, III, V & Diversity Maintain a 3.2-3.4 cumulative GPA and write a stellar essay... From what I've read on the 2012 thread there are people who got into Keck with a 3.1 ... USC seems like its going for a "how well will you represent our school" buzz.. Hope for the best and expect the worst.. I know that sounds harsh but that seems to be reality with recent admissions

@trojanfighton unfortunately I'm not going to USC yet. I'm applying in the fall semester and plan to get through this insane admissions process. I've been keeping tabs with my USC counselor and have all my p's and q's in order. So feel free to ask any questions I'll be more than happy to answer them.

Anyone have any insight as to what type of/how many EC's are appropriate for a transfer applicant looking to go to 'SC after year one?

@tmick62 you can take as many EC's as you like but for a positive outlook you should try and obtain a "Leadership" role. As far as a 'good' EC try to stay along the lines of what you're majoring in. Don't be special and do crochet while trying to get into accounting. It doesn't look bad they would just like to know how the EC you chose will benefit you in the future. If you are doing crochet and going into accounting explain it in your essay how it's benefiting you. I hope that helps.

@DemiDyl
Yeah I totally get you. I hope you make it and get into USC. Are you a Transfer student? In State?
And great question @tmick62 about the EC's. @DemiDyl Do you think volunteering at a women homeless shelter will help me, even though I'm going for per med. isn't it kind of similar, I think? haha

@MoreFunner Good Luck and Fight on!
@trojanfighton Yea I'm hoping I make it too. Yes, I am a transfer student and I am in state currently going to a LACC. Which would be completely ironic to me if I didn't get in. Volunteering at a women's shelter is great for pre med it shows that you have compassion for people which is huge in medicine, you kinda have to care or you will end up hating your job.

@Ramfan661 unfortunately no.. IGTEC is only for UC's and CSU's. You can complete IGETC and USC articulation at the same time but USC likes it more when their GE courses are completed shows interest. I don't have the link right now but google search "USC articulation agreement" it has agreements with most Cali CC's. I'm doing the same thing right now and it's a little tougher but I'm more than half way done. I'm also getting it done in 3 semesters so if you put your mind to it it can be done.. Just keep in mind what school you want to go to the most because most UC's (besides berkley) accept partial IGETC completion. I hope that helps.

Cool I go to PCC. I know right? You're in LA lol.. Haha good one, thanks for your opinion. I think will sign up and hopefully do it this fall if not for winter. And I was about to ask you on USC's articulation agreement, my USC counselor said I have to take most (or all) 64 units at a CC and the rest of the 64 units at USC. Are you taking all 64 at LACC? does it matter what classes we take?

@trojanfighton you can take 33 units (random number) and transfer as a freshmen/sophomore 64 units just happens to be the "max" amount of units to transfer. It all comes down to the articulation agreement. You must complete all, or most of, category 1,2,3,5, diversity, English/Math requirement (English/math are a must!). As for me at LACC I will be finished with 59 transferable units (I'll have 68 total) and it will leave me room to double major. It doesn't matter how many classes you take because ultimately only 64 units will transfer and of those 64 units we need to complete major prerequisites, category's 1,2,3,5, diversity, and any English/math required. We do all that with a 3.2-3.8gpa some sweet EC's, an awesome essay, a couple of rec letters (not required but look nice), and luck ......definitely will be seeing the gorgeous cardinal and gold campus. Here is the link for articulation .. https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx
As far as major prerequisites go just look on the USC transfer PDF...
Fight on!
