I asked this question before, and was looking for answers from either people who did transfer undergrad schools more than once or admission counselors. I have transferred once from one university to another and wanted to transfer again.

Has anyone did that before entering grad school and still got in?

Will doing this affect my grad school chances?

There are relatively few AOs here on CC (they have a 'College Rep' designation under their member name), and these are all UG AOs. Grad school is completely separate from UG and the admission process also is very different; while each university has a Graduate School office, admissions is more Department centered for all fields, not just areas like engineering.

Grad schools don't care specifically about how many UG schools you've attended, however changing schools can affect your grad school admissions indirectly through it's impact on research, getting to know profs for LORs, etc. Much more important than what schools you've attended will be your GRE, coursework, gpa, LORs, research and other activities.

Forgot to add, I attended 3 UG colleges and went on to get a MS and PhD.

I am the Associate Dean for Graduate Admissions at Illinois Institute of Technology and I can tell you that we, at least, don't get too concerned about transfers as long as the grades and GRE scores are to our standards. There are all sorts of reasons why a student transfers, particularly in these times when college expenses are getting so high.

The biggest problem facing a transfer student for graduate school applications is the fact that it is harder to get letters of recommendation form faculty who have known you for a long period of time and can convincingly speak to your strengths. The letters of recommendation are extremely important in differentiating applicants who have similar GPA and GRE statistics.

Thanks I am so scared I will not get into a good grad school because of it, but am very unhappy at my current university.
