Transferring for ROTC?

This is a pretty complicated story, and if anyone is able to make sense of it, please help me. Even a place to start would be nice.

I've wanted to join the military for awhile now, especially with the rotc scholarship. However, last summer I was told I was ineligible due to a medical condition. I turned down my top choice school because without rotc, I couldn't afford it. My chosen college does not have rotc.

Fast forward to this summer-I found out that I'm eligible for a medical waiver. Turns out my condition isn't severe enough to disqualify me from rotc. Also, I can still apply for the scholarship. However, like I said my school doesn't have rotc. I'm lukewarm about going to the school anyway, so the ideal situation would be transferring to my top choice school, but only if I can get the rotc scholarship.

How do I do this??? Do I transfer and pray that I'll get the scholarship? Do I get the scholarship and then pray I'll get the transfer? I still can't afford college number 1 on my own. Should I explain the situation to my dream school or the military? What is the timeline on this? Please help me, I'm completely stuck and my recruiter isn't sure either.

I'm not familiar withe ROTC scholarships, but it sounds like you need to apply to both the school and scholarship and see if they both come through. If either does not, you can always stay at your current school.

This is not so different from fr admissions when a student needs to both gain admission and be selected for a scholarship in order for the school to be affordable.

It seems like the ROTC scholarship possibility has to fit into your 'Why transfer?' essay for admission. Again, I don't know about what they look for in ROTC scholarships, so I don't know how much of a factor the school should be in the scholarship application.

The timeline for transfer admissions will be on the school's website. If the ROTC scholarship is tied to the school, then information should be on the FA webpage for the school. If it is completely independent, it seems like someone in the military should be able to help you with it.

You might want to try doing a Search on the FA & Scholarship forum for 'ROTC' and see if you come up with some useful information.
