Should I Transfer?

Hello all!

I just finished my sophomore year at a Penn State branch campus. I was originally planning to just transfer to University Park, but in light of recent developments, I am considering whether a transfer to a new school. The thing is, I have no idea what to do or how to approach this, or which schools to look at for that matter.

First, I am an Econ major with a 3.96 GPA. I'm a member of the University Hearing Board and the Honors Program at the branch campus I attended. I have also been involved in other ECs in the community. I've been a volunteer weather forecaster, a soccer statistician and game manager, and in high school I was a member of several student groups. I know my ECs are kind of varied and not overly strong.

I would be most interested in a Spring transfer, but if something better would be in the fall, I think I could work that out. Does anyone have an idea of where schools I could look into and where I may be competitive? Also, is a spring transfer better?

I know my credits would be pushing the maximum of what most universities would accept. As a result, I thought that I may take a break for a semester to try for an internship and maybe do some community work. Does this make sense? I would also maybe take a class or two at the branch campus to make sure I meet the requirements.

I would appreciate anyone's input on any or all things I have brought up.

Thanks!
