What should I do??

Currently i am a freshman at Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg Maryland and i honestly hate the school. It was never my number one choice and i am only going here due to financial reasons and my parents thought it would be better than community college. Now please don't say that I should wait out the year and try to make it better. I have tried everything to incorporate myself into the community but i have not been really welcomed. I have done intramurals and attended social events but to no avail. The school is small, only 2,000 students and i wanted a large school. It is also in the middle of nowhere and i wanted to go to a school in a city or town. I believe I am also depressed for the first time in my life. I would like to transfer to either University of Maryland College Park or Towson University. my question is that for the spring semester should i apply as a transfer, or, if possible, a freshman? i am currently enrolled for 15 credit hours. Please Please help me i cannot stand it here, it is not the college life i wanted. I also need help convincing my parents because they do not believe me.

The first place you should always look, the college website:

Office of Undergraduate Admissions · University of Maryland Transfer Students

Transfer Policies - Transfers - Apply - Undergraduate Admissions - Admissions - Towson University

I have looked at both websites. Marlyand states that you need a minimum of 12 credit hours to be considered a transfer but towson requires 30. Now would i be easier/would i have a better chance of getting in if i applied as a freshman spring semester?

Put in the name of the school, look at Applying and For Transfer Students, compare admission rates.

How long have you been there? A week? Have classes even started yet? You may be drawing a permanent conclusion from a temporary situation.

If you're at this school for financial reasons, can you handle the finances for the other schools you want?

I Have been here two weeks and classes are also one of the point of my disdain. And to the poster above, yes i can handle the finances, UMD is cheaper than where i currently am.

Did you originally apply to UMCP or Towson? Why was community college your only other option? You say your parents wanted you to go to Mount St. Mary's because it would be better than community college, and also for financial reasons. I assume this means you couldn't get into the state schools you wanted to go to, but you did get into other private schools that were more expensive than Mount St. Mary's.

If you were denied admittance to UMCP and Towson as a HS senior, you won't be able to transfer in until you have a decent college record until your belt, usually at least 30 credits, maybe more, with a GPA of at least 3.0. Look into transfer requirements at UMCP and Towson. My advice is to stick out the semester at Mount St. Mary's and if you still really hate it, then go to community college until you have enough credits to transfer.

(and if you don't mind, could you tell me why you hate Mount St. Mary's?)
