Stressed out transfer.

I was curious what my chances at nyu gallatin are with a 3.5 gpa from UMBC with great recs and outstanding ECs backstory and essays plus killer reason for wanting to go to Gallatin. I am also interested in a few other schools like UNC and Brandeis.

I don't have an answer, but I will ask why are you leaving UMBC?

I couldn't find more recent Common Data Sets (with transfer stats), but here's 2010 sets.

Scroll down to "D" then compare to freshman acceptance rates for Gallitin (6.6%) and try to find out the freshman retention rates for your program. You may be able to determine the number of slots they have in other words.

My opinion is that you have a good shot with your GPA (and coming from a honors college, good EC's, assuming strong scores and solid HS GPA since accepted into UMBC...), and it looks like 1900 transfers are accepted total out of about 5,000 applicants (but among that group is a much lower proportion whom are accepted into Gallitin) You may want to call admissions at NYU Gallitin and specifically ask just how many spots are available this year?

Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for the good wishes I plan on trying for next fall.
@smart88 I am leaving umbc because 1) they don't offer the major i want 2) this is the big one mind you. Everyone who goes here is pretty much a science major which I like the done side to that is the teachers are impossible average grades in science classes are low I mean kids pray for C's and A's are rare. 3) there is no social life it's always under construction and there are more squirrels than there are students. Also there is NO school pride.
