Transfer out of 4 year university into a community college

I am a first semester freshman at Baruch College in NYC. I live in LI and the commute is about 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, do to a family issue, I wont really be able to make the trip day in and day out after this semester. So I was wondering if it was worth it for me to transfer out of Baruch and into Nassau Community College. I was planning on transferring out of Baruch anyway (I dont like the school at all), and going to Binghamton after 2 years. NCC is only 25 min from my house and I had pretty good grades in HS (3.7 gpa), so Nassau should hopefully be a cinch. I wanted to know if schools like Binghamton would really put much emphasis on my former college, basically if very high grades from NCC are better than average grades at Baruch. If it really is that much of a difference, I might have to get an apartment in the city. Also, if it helps, I was planning on transferring to the Binghamton SOM. Thanks for all the help in advance, I really appreciate it.

NCC sounds like the best plan for you right now. Get in touch with the Transfer Advisor there so that you can plan the best course of study for transfer into the program where you want to finish up.

Really!? You dont think a school like Binghamton would care that I went to a community college over a reputable 4 year university like Baruch? Again, thanks a lot for the help.

Nope. Going to a CC after a stint at a 4 year is becoming more common. And it's usually a lot easier to transfer credits from a CC than from another 4 year.
