Transfer from 4 year to another 4 year?

I am a freshman at Cal Poly SLO and I am having an ok time. To be honest, it is not what I thought college would be at all. It is certainly not a traditional school, and it lacks greatly in diversity. I am really into college football and there is no sports scene here. I have met some cool kids, but most of the kids in my hall are really immature or just kind of weird. They play loud dubstep music all night and wrestle around. I am in the engineering program, which is top notch. That is why I am hesitant about transferring. I am not that happy here, coming from a big city it is a hard adjustment. I would love to be at a traditional college but I feel bad about leaving a great academic program. I just don't know if I will enjoy the next four years here. What are your thoughts? I get good grades so transferring shouldn't be a problem.

You get one shot at college, so if big-time college sports and a larger city is what you want then you ought to try to get it. That said, your options at CA publics are somewhat limited. Cal Poly has a great engineering program, probably better than the ones at the CSU campuses located in cities. The UC system has top-notch programs, but you can't transfer until you are a junior. You might want to talk to your parents about finances to see if a private would work.
