| USCfall08APP--Thanks. I had a feeling it would be this way. Annenberg is extremely competitive. I've already registered for classes at my CC and I feel that a 4.0 is clearly within reach. I think that if I can A's in my classes for the next year it may be enough to get accepted. It'll kinda feel awkward at the CC though cause I'm already 20...been there for 2.5 years. Oh well though. It is what it is. |

| I was just thinking, I have 60 units on the nose. But two of those classes were a dumbbell english and math class. So I actually only have 51 transferable units. Hmmm... Anyone have recommendations on what other classes may appeal to USC? I'm kinda out of ideas. |

| hippo50- I'm sorry to hear that. My advice is to take anything that's of interest to you that you plan on discussing in the essay next year. For example, if you are greatly interested in Art History and your career entails something in the art world or whatever, you can take some of those classes for fun (make sure they transfer first) and I'm sure adcom will notice and appreciate that you've invested the time doing so. If you only have 51 transferable units then yes, you can take another semester's worth of classes in order to gain the Junior standing for when you apply.
I'm not sure if you had these done when you applied but for the Communication major, Statistics is recommended and you must complete three semesters of a foreign language. All the best. |

| Thanks WOT, I took stats this last semester. Got a B.
Right now I'm going to take a U.S. history class, public speaking, a lit class, and spanish II. I didn't finish the foreign language req yet, I wonder how much of an affect that had. |

| I finished the foreign language, got an A in all 3 courses. I don't think it had that much of an effect. |

| Well this was my 3rd time applying, 1st time during senior year of high school I got rejected, 2nd time during my sophomore year of college also rejected. 3rd was my junior year, and accepted.
English major
3.46, 84 units, Honor Society, 3 Recs (1 from USC professor), Bomb Essays (I think this saved me), and a 3.7 gpa at USC for various Cinema Classes during the summer - 2 summer Sessions (apparently they're accredited)
I would say (for people who didn't get in this year), don't give up on this school, it took me 3 years and I decided to continue my education at a CC. If you still have the heart, hang in there and improve your stats at a CC -- do it. I've been where you guys have been, through the pain and anticipation. Believe me, if this is where you want to go continue to do so, you will get there.. |

| How come everyone sent in letters of rec? If I recall, they were not required. |

| cheeseburger08- Letters of rec. provide another dimension on which to weigh the student as a potential Trojan. It's not all about what your GPA is (though it helps a LOT) but about wether you participate and contribute in an academic environment andwill continue to do so beyond the university level. |

| Woman of troy- I'm fully aware of what a letter of rec. is. I am curious because no where on the application I filled up did it say I had the option to attach a letter of rec. |
