I'm applying to most of the UCs and lets say I get rejected from all of them.
If I went to a Community College for 1 year and applied again to those same UCs would they do this? :
1. Look at high school GPA and Community College GPA. Like a 50/50.
2. Look only at high school GPA.
3. Look only at Community College GPA.

In general, the more time passes after high school the less they look at your high school record. So, I would say that it would start out as 50/50, but if you applied as a sophomore for junior year, they'd consider your high school gpa MUCH less (some schools don't even ask to see your high school transcript after 30 credits, the standard for one year or college).

I have a question that has been bothering me for weeks. I've applied to Cornell as an engineering major and I MIGHT fail one course. I honestly have a good reason for it and if I am accepted, and fail, God forbid, then I'll write them a letter that really explains the whole situation. IF I am accepted, will there be a certain GPA cutoff that my final marks for 2nd semester have to be above, or do all courses just have to be passed? My GPA will be fine even with a failed course, but if I do fail, I REALLY don't want my offer to be rescinded. Can someone please tell me the whole situation behind the final marks? Do I have pass all? Is there only a GPA cutoff? Is it possible to write them an honest and justified letter of explanation if I do fail?

im trying to transfer from Central florida to Virginia Tech, and I realized how hard to be accepted as an engineer student. I got 3.65 GPA so far, took summer, fall and spring classes. I was on the dean's lists and member of the national society of collegiate scholars and was invited to be on the honors society. is there any chance that I can be accepted in Virginia Tech with the recorded I have? I'm freaking out right now because it been my dream to be admitted there.

Since I am thinking of possibly transferring ...
If I had already taken a few CC courses in my high school career (one, two, sometimes three every year from freshman year), will it count against me? I got a C in Stat freshman year because I was too young and unmotivated, but then on it was pretty average with a 3.22 average in the end (i concentrated more on my high school classes).
I got around 29 credits there... so it might do some damage, although the point i was making by taking those courses was to show initiative.

I have a question:
I'm currently enrolled at Georgia State University, where I have a 3.86 cumulative gpa (it might go up to a 3.87 after this semester, but it also might go down to a 3.85 if I make a B+ in one of my classes.)
I was considering applying to NYU as a transfer student for the spring 2010 semester, but since I will have either 69-73 credits at that time, depending upon how many classes I take, will I still be eligible since most institutions require you to take at least 60 credits at their school in order to receive a degree?
I was also considering transferring to Emory, so the same question applies to that school as well.
edit: I just realized that I would have earned 58 credits by the time that I submit my application (November 1 for nyu), but I would have earned 69-73 after that semester is over.

I need a little inspiration right now, because I've feeling completely down lately.
I'm not stupid or lazy, nah. I got rejected from 4 UC's, okay. I also got rejected from Chapman, where I really wanted to attend. The only two I got accepted into were SFSU and CSULA. I'm assuming it was because of my SAT scores, but I was going through a rough time then due to family issues and having e.coli for a while. I also committed the mistake of just taking the SAT once.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to attend a CC and transfer somewhere. There's a CC nearby who already offered to give me honors classes and hopefully help me transfer somewhere.
I'm just intimated, I guess. When I tell everyone, they give me this look of disgust, as if telling me that I'm going to fail there and it really sucks.
Am I making the right decision here? A lot of people kept telling me over and over to attend a Cal State, but they aren't for me to be honest. I wouldn't be happy there, ugh.

| transfer question
I am currently attending the University of Maryland-University College in Europe. It is a regionally accredited school. I plan to eventually transfer to Washington State University, hopefully this spring as a sophomore or in fall 2010 as junior. When I am finished with UMUC I will have 23 transferable credits and around a 3.0 GPA. The requirements for WSU are 27 credits. Therefor I am going to a community college for the first semester this fall to receive the rest of my credits and raise my GPA. My high school grades were not favorable and I will be looking to retake my SAT's. Any advice? What are my chances since WSU is comparably an easy school to get in to?

| transfer question
i just recently got accepted to towson university as a transfer student and they are telling me to reply within two weeks of receiving the acceptance letter. however, the other college i would rather transfer to is waiting for my final spring 09 grades which will not be completed in two weeks. towson's admission letter requires a $300 nonrefundable fee. should i wait until after the spring semester to hear back from the other school before accepting towson's admission? i'm afraid my acceptance may b denied after the two weeks.

Call Towson and ask for an extension. Explain the situation and they will probably give you one. If they don't, try calling the other school and explaining the situation, and they may be able to tell you what you can expect for their decision. If all else fails, imagine the other school's decision to be a rejection. If you would go to Towson upon being rejected from the other school, put down the deposit. You can always go to the other school in the end (assuming the deposit isn't binding, which it hardly is for transfers especially considering your very common situation), and 300 bucks is nothing in comparison to tuition, or the price of happiness or a good education (not that you can't find those at Towson, I'm sure). Good luck.

Alright, so I have a question... I applied to transfer to 8 different schools. I applied for Fall 2009 and I already had grades for spring 08, summer 08 and fall 08... a cumulative GPA of 3.7. So I aplied to these schools only missing this semester grades. However, this semester I got mononucleosis and I missed about 3 weeks of classes and two of the classes did not allow me to retake some of the tests. I was able to recuperate in my lower course load classes but I had to withdraw passing from two of my more rigorous classes.... My GPA was maintained but those WP are not what I wanted. I am worried that if I DO get into some of the 8 schools I applied to, they will revoke my admission because I had a bad semester... any advice?

^^Congratulations!
............................
Colleges require high school transcript, which also means that they require high school GPA and class rank, right?
My high school is in another country, which has a completely different system of education. My high school can't send my high school transcript to the college I want to transfer to, because it doesn't do these things.
I have a copy of my high school transcript, but my class rank and GPA are only listed on the Couselor Report in the Common Application.
Do you think I should send(i can only mail it) both the copy of the transcript (signed and stamped by the HS principal) and the counselor forms with the rank and the GPA?
Thanks in advance.
