about sending apps.. for example, i asked my school to send in my hs transcript this november, but then i'm sending my college app in december would that be okay?
| What most schools do is make a file for you as soon as they get one part of your application. They then put the rest of your things in that app as they get more and more. Once it's complete, they look at it. Quote: |
yea.. i was also confused with submitting the applications early.. coz i spoke to a lady and she said that i should submit my application really early coz it's like first come first serve basis?? the school that i'm applying to has a priority deadline for transfers on Feb.1, 2008. If i understand the earlier posts above me correctly, since it's not a rolling basis coz the site didn't state anything about that, i could send it my apps like a week or two weeks before Feb 1,2008, right?
| If you're positive it's not rolling, then they will review the applications that they get before Feb 1st, 2008 as the deadline, and then after that is a case by case basis.

If I interpre the qx about rolling/Feb 1,2008 deadline correctly, I would think this: that school may not call itself officially "rolling", but it reviews and decides on apps submitted prior to 2/1/08 on a rolling basis. Therefore, it would be my impression that there is a definite advantage to submitting early if it is a selective school/has limited transfer slots.
So I would submit mine as soon as I could have it ready.

Cvjn- i just based it on the info on collegeboard, and if my memory serves me right the school doesn' say about rolling, but i'll check with them coz i'm planning to meet with the admission's officer sometime nov. But like what Andale said, yea, the school that i'm applying too is really selective. getting only half of the applicants for admission.
well, another thing, if i decided to apply Fall 2009 instead of Fall 2008, but i already submitted my recommendation letters, SAT scores, Hs and college transcripts, would that mean that i still have to resubmit everything? won't they keep my files?

To transfer, do i need to fulfill GE for the school i want to transfer AND lower divisions classes for the major? can i just fulfill the lower divisions classes (approved classes for the school i want to transfer) for my major and fulfill GE at that school?

I don't believe there are any hard and fast rules about that, sgyble. Might be better for you to post a separate thread, with a little more info about your question - what major/what school(s) you are aiming for/what you would have completed prior to transfer.

When colleges ask for a progress report and don't provide a progress report form on their site... how do I go about asking teachers for one? Does it have to be this extra fancy thing, or do they just write down the grade and a few comments (in other words, something that can be done in a couple of minutes after class).
Sorry if my question is horrible... I'm just stressing out about it. Thanks a lot.

Forget my question. I think I'll just use another progress report as a template and type it up. Too bad I can't delete my own posts. I was having an anxiety attack when I wrote it, so I wasn't thinking clearly. Sorry.

I could delete it for you, artsaved. Being a mod and all . But, actually, I think you have asked a question that many have. It will be helpful to others.
And, yes, using another school's form as a template is a great idea.

I have two Common App. related questions...
Under the Extracurricular section, it asks for "average time spent"... as a freshman in college looking to transfer for the spring semester... do I put down how much time I have spent on an activity ALREADY OR how much I WILL spend on the activity throughout the fall semester.
Also, can the online Common App. be sent on the day it's due and still be considered an application that is on time?
I hope these are not silly questions... thanks.

Do most colleges ask for secondary school reports from ALL schools you attended or just the one you graduated from? I ask because the only school that explicitly asks for all attended was UNC but is it implied that you should send them to all schools or is the transcripts from the school you graduated from sufficient?
One more: I was a really mischievous kid in HS, I got suspended for 3 days for something really embarrassing I did, and I know I should disclose this but I think that it would be nigh impossible to explain the situation properly without it being a huge ding to my application. Are my transcripts going to go in to detail of the suspension or will I be safe just saying something to the effect of " I was very disruptive on repeated occasions which caused me to get suspended for 3 days" even though what I did is a bit more damning than that.
I really don't want to be dishonest, it's not in my nature but then again if it could be the difference between me getting accepted or not I don't mind stretching the truth. Also this was over 5 years ago and certainly doesn't represent the person I am now.
Thanks for any advice!

Any tips, re: transferring to a school that previously admitted you? The school was Penn...

stone - you can try posting that question re suspension on the Parent Forum. There is at least one very knowledgeable parent wrt suspensions/expulsions and how best to explain them.

art - for "average time spent" on freshman EC's, I would recommend you put the typical hrs/week that you expect to spend throughout the fall semester.
You probably can submit your Common App on the actual day of the deadlind. But that is NOT RECOMMENDED. There are several threads on the forum about server problems, server crashes, your own computer having a problem so you can't access the site etc. etc. etc. Don't wait until the very last minute.

I am a current freshman at CSUF and looking to tranfer for next fall. Are my SAT scores from last year still applicable or do I need to retake them or something? The CollegeBoard website is scary and I cant find information on this topic there or my scores.
