yeah, I'm totally jealous here lol.

I would say the same thing to anyone else, whether they went to a top school or not. The point is lazy is acting very ungrateful.

Sounds like you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here man, all I was trying to do was put things into perspective but if you want to think I have ulterior motives, go right ahead.

I fail to see how I am acting ungrateful. I am eternally indebted to Duke for helping me out the way they are and by even admitting me in the first place. However, this doesn't tie me to Duke permanently. I can still go somewhere else if I want to, and doing so would not mean that I am not thankful.

And I agree that the plane ticket costs is a weak argument, so I will drop that. Still, I think that the city of Durham is a compelling reason to transfer out. The city is dangerous and offers nothing, at least in my eyes.

Moderator Note: Ladies and gentlemen, This is a sticky thread, designed to provide reference information for those considering different schools for transfer and seeking one data item about selectivity and "chances."

If you have other topics you wish to discuss, such as your own transfer needs, please seek out or start an appropriate thread so long as your content and tone comply with our Terms of Service. Thank you.

Nvm, I just checked myself.
For UT:
Transfer Students
* Total number of transfer students who applied: 6,346
* Total number of transfer students who were admitted: 2,859

That comes out to 45%. 3.5% increase from 2006.

I cant help but say that Transfer Admissions to any of these schools is really intense, and urge all of you fine students to save all your energy for graduate school, I mean it is ridiculous how selective these schools are and what they expect college students, who otherwise work really hard as it is to make ends meet. Good luck

While I do think that these statistics are frightening and transferring in general, (from the application process to admissions notifications, to arriving at your new campus), is an extremely difficult process, the rewards in the end, justify the means...

I wouldn't be where I am now, without having transferred to a different university... It's opened up a completely new world, fortunately, something I can still experience and enjoy as an undergrad, rather than waiting until graduate school. But hey, to each his or her own...

I think tanya922 you make a good point, but when I see students putting all the psychological, and physical energy, into the top 5 schools in the country, it is not realistic and is a waste of time, because we see how many of the students are accepted, and the process in which many of these schools base transfer admissions on. The incoming "freshman yeild", and with waitlists as large as they are, transfer students have little to no chance of gaining admissions to these super selective schools. If you have a variety of schools in which to apply to than thats fine, otherwise its like winning the lottery, pure luck !!!!!!
