gosh darn it, why does the Penn transfer process have to be so excruciating??
1) no online service like many other schools to check whether all the important materials were received
2) rolling or not?? I know an applicant from a previous year who applied hours before the deadline and received an acceptance around May 10th.
3) and also in reference to previous year trends, penn is horrible at meeting deadlines with some people received decisions as late as June 7th/8th.
4) Inconsistent information from admission representatives, ex. midterm reports: - the transfer checklist says its mandatory, but one person on CC reports that it's not a required nor really meaningful component of the application.
5) They also officially stated officially that Decisions PINs would be mailed out no later than April 25th, many still haven't received them, and others (like me) are told by this website,
Penn Admissions, that our emails are not even in the systems. We submitted Part A (just basic info) application long time back, and they still don't have our emails in the system ,what's going on??
I'm not gonna lie, I would be overjoyed by an acceptance in 2+ weeks, but Penn really needs to improve their application process for transfers:
Possible suggestions:
1) Online tracker for application materials (cuz we all know how tedious it can be to have to re-send stuff like midyear report, deans report, transcripts, recs, etc.)
2) Fixed dates for everything!! so we don't have to play a guessing game about what every vague date (mid-May, late-April, etc.)
3) Many schools release statistics about acceptances, why not Penn? I mean "we take roughly 200 from over 2000" really doesn't give enough info.
4) Clarify the whole issue of releases of decisions thru 3 batches...I've heard 1st batch = outright acceptances, rejects, 2nd batch = marginal rejections, 3rd batch = waitlist (for which spots open up when 1st batch acceptees relinquish their spot). I've also heard that it's just rolling basis. what going on?
Hit me with your "chill outs" and "calm downs" etc. etc. BUT lets face it, many of us have been thinking about transfer-related issues since the Fall. We have invested a lot of time into this despite the very low chances. I would just like Penn to make things a lot simpler and easier.
(sorry for spelling/grammar errors)
