Official Penn Transfer Thread Fall 2008

This thread is to be used for those students who are planning on transferring to the University of Pennsylvania for the Fall 2008 school year. Please use this opportunity to discuss anything regarding the admissions process, concerns about admission, or just to see who all we are competing against. Best of luck!

Hey everyone! Finishing off my freshman year at East Stroudsburg University and applying to UPenn and Lehigh for Political Science, hoping to go to law school

Stats:
HS GPA: 3.2-3.3
College GPA: 3.8 first semester, 4.0 current
SAT: 1220
EC's: Political talk show on school radio station, Treasurer of ESU's Orthodox Christian Fellowship, about 55 hours of community service over the past 2 years

2 EXCELLENT Recs., one from my writing prof who I had for both English Comp. and Advanced Comp. and knows me well (we hang out outside of class) and an economics prof. who is the chairman of the history department who also knows me well both inside and outside the classroom

2 great essays, and the part of the Penn CommApp supplement where they ask for a picture well, I didn't have one on my computer so I wrote in some humorous description of myself...really funny. If you wanna read it, pm me

Peace!

Applying to CAS. Not sure what to think about my chances - I have a 3.6 from a state school in New York, which is nothing exceptional. I'm hoping that they might let me in because I want to go for a very specific reason - their anthro department. Also, I have legacy. What do you all think about chances for a 3.6 gpa with legacy and a specific interest in their anthropology department?

Has anyone submitted their application yet? Should we be receiving any sort of confirmation or anything?

Does anyone else feel like the transfer portion of the Penn Admissions website is really uninformative? I still can't figure out how many recommendations to submit...

Please list the identities of at least 2 people who will be submitting letters of recommendation on your behalf. You may modify this information at any time.
You can't be anymore clearer than this. It says this online where you check the status of your recommendations.
