I'll be 29 in May, and am a junior transfer. I have applied to SIUC, U of Illinois, U of Virginia, James Madison U, and U of Maryland. Finally pulled myself up by the ol' bootstraps and completed a couple years of college. I've grown up enough to realize that I'm tired of drinking Milwaukee's Best Light, instead of finer (and pricier) Beck's.
I'm kidding.
Somewhat.

I'm interested to see how many of us get into the schools we're applying to, relative to our younger counterparts with similar "stats". In other words, whether or not age plays any significant role in decisions.

Hey everybody,
I am 33 yrs old and am applying as a junior transfer. I am applying to the following schools:
Beloit, Earlham, Frankline & Marshall, Gettysburg, Knox, Marietta, Mt Holyoke, Ohio Wesleyan, Trinity (CT), Tulane, UPenn, WUSTL, and Wooster.
I am applying through the adult/non-traditional age programs at Mt Holyoke, Trinity, UPenn, and WUSTL. I found out that it is easier to apply through these programs because you are not competing with traditional age students for admission spots and the tuition is actually less expensive through these programs as well. The degrees offered through these programs have equal weight to those offered through the traditional programs. Adult programs also offer extra support services to assist their students adjust to a new academic setting.
Just wanted to pass that information along. |

I'm a returning student apping as a junior transfer this fall too. I finish my associate's degree in May -- don't get me started on how much I regret spending time on the useless geneds I won't need after I transfer sigh. I applied to UIUC, NIU, and am in the process of applying to Northwestern. Staying in IL is generally the theme for now; I'll consider relocation after I graduate.
I already heard back from UIUC and NIU a while ago, and NIU honors more recently. Northwestern though, finances might be a bit of a deterrent even if I do squeeze in since I recall reading aid for new transfers at NU is very, very hit or miss. I checked out their SCS program more recently since it seems much more affordable, but I am not sure I am keen on the details.
I'm looking forward to seeing where everyone ends up. |

I'm 22. Graduating this semester with an A.A. at a community college, so I'll be transferring as a junior. I applied to Rutgers, University of Massachusetts, and University of North Carolina. The only school I was given a decision by so far has been UMass and I was accepted.

I am 33 - applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSC, USCB, UCD, and NYU. Was accepted at Columbia GS but decided their financial aid was ridiculous and backed out. I've been accepted to UCSD and UCSC so far! Waiting on the rest.

I'm 33 and I will by applying as a junior transfer for Fall '09. Right now I plan to apply to Occidental, Cornell, UCB, UNR, Reed and UCLA. I probably should add one more school that is a little better than UNR but still a safe school (I'm a Nevada CC student not a CCC student).

I'm 26 and a high school dropout (got my GED). I took four years to complete my associate's degree. I applied to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison and was accepted at all three.
To those with weird histories...college admission IS possible!!

Okay, anyone younger than 26 is NOT an older student!
