What Does HRS ARR Mean?

I've noticed many classes, especially online courses say 4.0 HRS ARR. But am not sure what this mean. does this time needed to be spent online a week or something?

I'm currently looking at taking a Computer System Info class and its a 9 week online course and states "8.0 HRS ARR"

What does this mean?

I'm already signed up for 4 classes and am wondering if this 8.0 HRS ARR will be too much for me to tackle, though everyone says this Professor is the easiest and best.

Hours Arranged. Depends on what college you go to. Some of them are real sticklers about the extra hours, others more lax. The college I'm familar with has a bunch of regulations about what it means - it has to be supervised by the professor and be related to the class. For a theatre class it might mean working on costumes or stage production, for a film class it might mean attending film festivals, for a language class it might mean hours in the language lab, for an art class it might mean field trips to museums, etc. Again - depends on the school and how the professor decides to handle it. I had a film class where the prof did NOT directly supervise our HRS ARR(though this is technically a big no no) and we just could fill in our sheets with whatever movies we watched and he'd sign us off.

Find out if the 8 hours is weekly or the entire semester/quarter. Find out what kinds of things the prof does to have those fulfilled.
