NCC to ?

just want to start off by saying great site, tons of information and experience.

here's my story, I screwed up h.s. real bad just wanted to party and hang out didn't do any homework or study despite being fairly intelligent. I graduated with a 3.0, got an 1180 on my SATs and a 26 on my ACTs. I got into a few colleges but decided to attend Nassau Community College(NCC) for my first year instead of going away. NCC is ranked the #1 community college in the country in case nobody has heard of it (yes a community college but I'm referencing that due to my intentions of tranfserring).

My major right now is business administration, I plan to finally do my work and study which I know could lead to coming out this year with a 3.6 - 3.8 gpa. I plan to join some clubs and I will also have a job.

My question is if I finish my freshmen year with a 3.6 - 3.8 gpa and have good ECs, will I be able to transfer to top 15 or even some top 10 business schools? Right now I feel like getting into kelley is the perfect match for me but I would love to be able to get into even more prestigious institutions.

What other schools could be options for me if I do in fact have that gpa and decent ECs? What else can I do to make me a stronger candidate at the harder schools? Anyone with experience transferring from a community college to a top business school please share how you did so.

Thank you very much for your time.

You're going to most likely need three semesters of work under your belt if you're going to have any shot at a top school - but I am not sitting on any admissions committee. I don't speak as a business student from a CC who has gained admission into a top school, but I can tell you that they most likely didn't do anything different from the norm. My advice to you is to get close to a 4.0 as possible, secure some pretty decent recommendations, and write some pretty convincing essays - what I would say to anyone looking to transfer.

Nassau Community College is not #1. Community colleges are not ranked. And when the topic is brought up, it's Santa Monica (CA), Montgomery (MD) and Broward (FL) community colleges that people talk about.

I would recommend staying for 2 years if your major is business. Most business schools have a secondary admissions process for all juniors - upcoming juniors at the school and incoming transfers. No one can take upper level business courses until they meet the pre-reqs, qualifying grades and are accepted into the business school. There's little benefit to getting on campus early.
