Help with transfer essay!

I'm currently working on my transfer application for the University of Maryland, College Park. The question is simple "Why do you want to transfer here?" but I'm having trouble getting this essay off the ground. Does anyone have any suggestions on this kind of essay or know of any links where there is sample transfer essays so I can get an idea on how to structure an essay like this?

For the question that says 'why do you want to transfer here' i would heavily emphasize maryland, not your old school. if you do anything for the common app, though, the general question is 'why do you want to transfer' and each school asks why do you want to transfer here, in which case you have to talk bout your old school. but, if says HERE specifically, try to minimize talking about your old school bc it will come across as negative.

If this essay is specifically for University of Maryland make sure you discuss why its the 'perfect' school for you. In my transfer essay I talked about the unique qualities the school I was applying to had and how my former school(the one I transferred from) didn't offer those advantages/opportunities.

Like walkinman07 said, try to structure most of the essay around University of Maryland and not trashing your current school. He's right, they don't want to hear someone being negative. But, pointing out that your current school doesn't have the things University of Maryland has doesn't have to come off as negative.
