STOMP Transfer Conference at UCLA

The UCLA counselor who came to my school suggested strongly that I go to this conference. I signed up and will go next Friday.

Now, I'm wondering if anyone else has gone to it in the past and what goes on there.

My brother says that it's pointless and also points out that most people who go have no chance of getting into UCLA anyway, that's why they're invited. (My GPA of 3.08 is much lower than they usually accept, so I think that's why he said what he did.)

Can any of you shed some light on the situation?

Basically you'll go on a tour of the school, and then they'll tell you different things to do to transfer to UCLA. Also the GPA thing is not true, as long as you sign up anybody can attend.
