i honestly dont know anything about college. so now i dont know what to do

ok so my hs life has been pretty mediocre
hardly any ECs and decent grades.
i didnt take admissions really seriously so my PS were pretty lame

and now i dont know what to do about college!
i Thought i could get into any UC easily, but i was SO wrong.
ohhhh so wrong.

SO HERES THE JIST--
i applied to 4 UCs and only got into Davis
only to realize that they dont really have the major i wanted--business.
i really like the idea of going to UCI because they have everything i want
but this whole transfer thing has got me in the loop.
i got into CAL Poly Pomona and SLO, SDSU, and CSUN.
honestly SDSU doesnt sound so bad, but i wanted to go to a UC
and graduate from a better school and blah blah blah
but now im reading that i have a better chance by going to a CC.
but that will take 2 whole years!!!
i was hoping it will take a year but now...

SO i dont know what to do!!!
should i go to a CC and then transfer in TWO whole yrs?
or go to SDSU and try to transfer or something?? (when i dont have a good chance)
or should i just go to a UC that doesnt even have the major that i KINDA want now...
im @ a loss

Be aware that your interests might change. You may think business is the your ideal major and later find out you hate it, or find yourself interested in something else.
An alternative to a business major is econ, which is more academic.

UCD is not a bad choice, If money isn't an issue I would consider just doing aiming for the UC to UC transfer.

If money is an issue, then in all honesty CC will be the best way to go. One could technically transfer in 1 school year with 60 units but get ready to work your butt off. IF you're thinking cc and want to do it one year, you need to start looking at the igetc requirements, going to your community college and enrolling NOW, getting testing out of the way etc.

If you plan it out to do 12units-15units in the summer, 18-24 in the fall, and possibly 6-9 in the winter, and 18-24 in the spring, you could enter as a junior in fall 2010 at possibly UCI, or any school that may interest you.

1st off. thanks for taking the time to read my long story.
so yes i realized that my major interest could change, but i just wanna give business a Try. so the fact that UCD only has the econ major, is why im iffy on going there. i mean if business was my 1st interest of majors...i think i shlld at least give it a chance no?

$wise. ill be getting financial aid. so i guess its not that much of an issue...at least i think not.

i just did dome research on the whole CC transfer thing and i realized that guaranteed admission after 2 yrs IS pretty sweet. BUT the only downside to that is you dont get the "college experience." no dorms. tiny campus. that kinda sucks. so....now....

Virginia also has the two years at CC for guaranteed admissions as well, but you can still apply after your first year, you just wont be guaranteed admissions, so you may have to apply to a couple other schools and spend a couple months wondering if youll get in. Another thing I guess you could do if you go the guaranteed admissions route is just do a double major which will probably add another year on to college, thus youll get three years at the college of your choice instead of two.

First of all I gave you the information for the guarentee transfer (TAG) in the other thread you started, so you didn't need to research it.

If you really don't want to do 2 years at community college fine, do the 2 years required elsewhere like UCD or SDSU. No matter where you'll go you will have to do the minimum transferrable 60 semester/90 quarter units. I'm just suggesting that you transfer from a California Community College because the UC's give top transfer priority to them. And it will be much easier because the other universities do not take it that their incoming students are considering to transfer but rather graduate. This meaning the recommended coursework doesn't fit the needs of transferring requirements, while the cc's do.

The only UC's that have Business Administration (coming from a business major like myself), UC Berkeley/Haas School of Business, UC Riverside/College of Business, UC Merced/College of Business, and UCI/Merage School of Business. The rest of the UC's have Economics.

Transfer Priority to UC's
1. Community College
2. CSU, UC to UC, and Private
3. International and Out of State
