i think so? i really don't know the distinction. i'm not going to say anything is "guaranteed" until i am/am not accepted hehe. A lot of the language that they've used in their e-mails to me suggests that it is, to some degree, guaranteed. Like they would list the requirements that i had to complete and say "admission will not be granted unless you do this, blah blah blah" and things like "we look forward to you joining the Cornell community in January." i did have a special application, though. no essays/recommendations, and just some special course requirements. i think it was a special circumstance type thing.. i don't know how many people were given spring transfer options as opposed to fall ones. i'm glad i got one for the spring, though, because it's probably much more difficult to transfer after a whole year in one place, i would imagine. dunno, though. but that's me, anyways |

Yeah we don't worry about GTs. Ironic, I think he(she?) said they're CALS AEM.
And no ziiam, we didn't forget you were CALS :-P
No envelope today...Wednesday's are usually good for me though..
I emailed a shorter version of a confirmation on my midterm grades being received today. If they don't respond by tomorrow at 12:30, I'll probably call the office...maybe I'll even hear good news (or bad..gulp..)

^ No you won't!! You will hear great news (you half way in either way) and then u can come here and just write the three magic words: I GOT IN!!
Btw, if I get accepted, after sobbing for a good 30 mins. I'll go on FB and write on my status "I GOT IN" as much as I can but I will leave a small space for "HAHAHA SUCKAS" This will be for those who taught I will never get in (none in CC, of course. The ones who say those things are MEAN). Then I'll make a video of me thanking the academy, GOD (specially Him), my mom, my brother and sister, Karla, , my dad, my friends, the professors and dean who wrote me LOR and the CC exclusive Cornell applicants group (except the noobs...haha j.k...u are included) then I'll start jumping with the big fat envelope and repeating "I GOT IN", I'll stop (I'm fatigued out of all the jumping), and after I catch my breath, I'll say "I GOT IN" in a low tone and just held up the envelope up high. Then I'll take a picture of me with the envelope and make that my profile picture. Both the picture and video are requests from my closest friends who live in different corners of the world and they want to see my reaction. I guess that's it. LOL
^WOW I should not eat candy after 11...

hey.bored intrusive noob here again. although now that i've posted here a bunch of times, i hardly qualify as one anyways. i have 3 more questions, wise transfer applicants. I will have about 54 credits by spring(mostly AP creds), and will most likely have around 50 nonAP credits by the time fall comes around. I'm a *very bored* freshman though, and I'm not sure if I should xfer in as a soph or as a junior. What would be better for me to transfer in as? I already know that I want to major in biology and society and am taking basic coursework in all those fields (search my posts for a list of courses I'm taking).
In typing up my first question, I forgot my second question, so my third question is about the CALS transfer day, which is november 6th. I have class that day and I really can't miss them, so does CALS' transfer day extend to weekend? If not, what other colleges have an xfer day on the 7th/8th?

MDG: post your stats RIGHT NOW! And they better be horrible! J/k.
But really, I better be seeing some stats really soon.
And to whomever said that only 14 people were accepted to ILR last spring, I don't think that's correct. If you recall (which I'm sure that no one does), I posted my conversation with an ILR rep. about a dozen pages ago. They told me that 44 applied with about 26 being accepted. Those probably aren't the exact numbers which I was told, but that's a pretty accurate representation.
Not to be overtly racial (which would be technically impossible since there's actually no such thing as different human races), but are Jemma and I the only URM applicants in this thread. I'm just curious. I heard URM status doesn't really make a difference for transfer admission anyway since the small pool of applicants don't add to a school's level of diversity even if most are URMs (that's just hearsay. I can't speak on the credence of that statement.)
Whatever happened to the no Cornell talk policy, lol. I guess once someone gets accepted, we all go crazy.
This is going to sound dumb, but should we vote to see who had the best essays?

East, I think it's funny that you brought up that URM thing that some idiot who knows nothing about anything told you in that other thread! haha i'm sure being a urm still helps.
I'm banking on the fact i'm first generation.
I'm down with that essay thing, too!
Actually, east, you want to read my personal statement? I never actually showed it to anyone other than jemma, and she's too nice to ever say anything bad about it

LOL Riley. Way to be nice to the guy who made the URM comment. I know some anonymous sources on here aren't exactly reliable (especially considering the fact that he's the only person on this board who's made a comment like that) so that's why I inserted a disclaimer after that statement.
I'd be happy to read your essays tomorrow at work, but PMs are starting to aggravate me now since my box is constantly reaching max. capacity. I don't know if you were here when I set up a yahoo group for that purpose, but yea... I set up a yahoo group for that purpose. There's about 7 or 8 members and most of us traded essays shortly after the deadline just to get other opinions. If you just want me to read it, then I'll gladly give you my e-mail address but if you feel comfortable enough to share it with all members of the group, then I'll send you an invite.
