help me decide fall or spring transfer for business student?

Hi,

I'm going to be a sophomore at the Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick and I'd like to transfer to a more prestigious business school. I was an average student in high school but did better in college.

high school:
-B+/A- in honors/ap classes
-2120 SATI's (800M, 620V, 700W)
-SATII's 740 BIO 800 MATHII
-a lot of music extra curriculars that apparently didn't do much for me getting into college

got accepted into uiuc business school and rutgers, rejected ED stern and unc and some others that aren't important

college:
-3.72 / 4.0 GPA
-uh .. not that many extracurriculars
-have a couple of jobs on and off
-2 unpaid internships during the summer. One at brokerage making some calls and another at a magazine company doing some accounting stuff

Anyways, just some background I guess. I'm looking into transferring to:
-NYU Stern (fall)
-UMich Ross (fall)
-Cornell hotel school (spring and fall)
-UVA McIntire (fall?)
-UNC (fall?)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but those are when they actually accept new transfer students right?

I'm not sure which one should be my top choice .. and when should I apply? Should I just apply to cornell and see if I can get in for spring? What if I get in and don't go (cause I'd want to know if I'd get into stern and such) can I still apply for fall of 2010?

Also, while you're at it =p what do you think my chances are? =x

I think you need to make yourself appeal as a more interesting student to admissions boards. Without being able to do so, I don't think you have a shot at any of those listed.

Your GPA is fine but they will probably look to see what you can give back with ECs...Volunteering, etc. So if your able to add a little bit more to show your an all-around student I'd say..

McIntire, UMich, NYU - No shot... UMich undergraduate business school is a three year program and McIntire is just as hard to get into as Wharton. NYU is NYU.

Cornell and UNC - Decent shots. Need good RECs, ECs, and essays to be competitive though.

Are you applying for junior status? A couple of jobs on and off might show a lack of commitment.

There is nothing you cannot fix before applying. GPA is usually the only thing which is hard to fix. So just put some effort into it if you really want to leave Rutgers.

Stern

I'm guessing by now that you would have found out that Stern has no spring transfer.

NYU itself does, but not for Stern. You can't even tranfer to NYU A&S first and then internal transfer to Stern later on because they don't allow internal transfers for people who were already transfer students...
