Advice for a UBC applicant?

I'm planning to attend the University of British Columbia (UBC) this Winter 2010 semester and I want to take the Integrated Engineering or Materials Engineering program. But I have absolutely no inside information and advice about this school coming from real students of UBC or people in Vancouver. All I know are just the things on the official UBC Vancouver website.

I am currently studying as a 3rd year engineering undergraduate in the University of the Philippines. I am transferring there as a permanent resident of Canada (once I step foot on Canadian soil - so I'm not exactly an international student). I would really appreciate any personal advice or help from UBC people that could help me with my application. I want to finish applying as soon as possible because the deadline is on February 28 and I haven't requested a transcript in my school yet!

I'm also applying for scholarships, bursaries or loans, and housing but my UBC application is my top priority right now. I'll take care of my scholarship and housing applications after I'm done with my UBC application and I'm gonna need advice on those too.

Thanks!
