| FIRST TUFTS ED I Thread
I thought I'd start a thread for parent or student on the Tufts EDI roller coaster ride. My D is in and praying....thoughts about this year?
Also, for those of you counting on an EDI admission -- what's the backup plan? Are you actively working on other applications or gambling that if the news is bad you go into crisis mode?

Another anxious ED parent here. As soon as she hit submit I thought of the old Simpsons' quote..."Now we play the waiting game. Aw, the waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos."
Luckily, my daughter has her head screwed on well. Her motto in life is "don't dwell," so if she doesn't get into to Tufts, she knows she'll end up somewhere and it'll all turn out fine in the end. As far as backup, she's planning on waiting for December 15 and if it's bad news, she can distract herself with the other apps.

My D also applied ED1. She received her first acceptance to a safety on Thursday, so that is helpful to have on hand if the ED doesn't go well. D was so excited to get an acceptance and *know* she will be going to college next year. Of course, we knew she would get into her safeties - that they is why they are safeties! But the timing was good to receive it. She has 2 other safety apps completed (all due 11/1) but I don't think she'll hear from them until Jan. or later. A few of her other schools she'll continue to work on this month, a few will wait until we hear from Tufts. It is hard to keep all these balls up in the air at one time though!

D just got an email about scheduling her Tufts interview. We also found out there's a big alumni group out here, which is very cool! Hard to type with fingers crossed.

We are still waiting for the word from the alumni interview...but I blew my daughter away when she showed me the name of the individual on the Tufts app webpage and I found her in a minute on linkedin and discovered that I know at least three people that know her!
With that said, no contact yet about scheduling the interview....

The interviewer was awesome, which of course only makes waiting to hear even harder. He had gone to D's high school and they had a lot of other interests in common, making what could have been nerve-wracking pretty fun according to her. Hope your D hears soon!

Idunivan--
ED interview reports are due on November 30. So if your daughter really really wants an interview, I think it's time for her to contact the person herself. It's a really small window between the ED application date and the last date for interview reports, so it can be tough to schedule one. Best of luck.

My D had her interview about 2 weeks ago. It was her first college interview and from what I can glean, went well. The interviewer kept her much longer than an hour, which tells me that the conversation went well. We'll see!
Does anyone know exactly how ED candidates are notified? Will there be an email or online notification or should be just be checking the mailbox on or around Dec. 15? Is everyone notified on the same day?

We notify everyone all at once (notifications are torturous enough already) and we usually send an e-mail out once the decisions are ready to be posted. Our applicants can check the decision using TAMS (our online application management system).
I know how nerve-wracking mid-December can be for our ED applicants, and some of that is unavoidable. But if there's anything we can do to make things a little more sane for you, let me know. As a Tufts alum, I feel honored to read an application and know that my alma mater is any students First-Choice given the bevy of opportunities out there, and while we cannot admit all who apply, I know how important it is to reciprocate that respect.

Dan, should we even bother with the alumni contact on the website? We did as told and waited four weeks (which is today) but if the deadline really is November 30, perhaps there's no point....any suggestions?

I sense that you are feeling worried about the lack of interview and I can understand that. However, I really believe that an interview, at the ED level, is not terribly crucial. A year ago, our D was applying EDI and the only concern that I had about her application was that she was gone just a mere 1/2 hour for her interview and even though her appointment was close by I thought that did not bode well. Our D also felt that it was not a particularly good or strong interview, but nevertheless she was accepted--- I sense that it may have been a mere formality since she requested an interview---and perhaps interviewers aren't readily available where you live, so I wouldn't really worry.
In any event I wish all EDers good luck---I remember how anxious we were feeling a year ago!

Well said, Dan
Coming from a student that was a ball of nerves... and posted I GOT IN about a trillion times when I did... my advice might not have an incredible amount of merit, but nonetheless -
Senior year is an incredible time, and should not be ruined by the chaos of college applications. I emphatically encourage every HS senior to really HAVE FUN! It's your last year in your hometown for another 4 years, and you should really enjoy that. I think Dan actually posted something about this awhile ago... where is that post?

Dan,
I just wanted to thank you for your helpful and respectful reply to my post.
I also wish the best of luck to everyone who applied ED1 (including my DD, who does not come on here - LOL).
