i volunteer for deveruex (a home for children with special needs), and spent my junior year tutoring elementary school students in a "homework club" and being a teacher's assistant for one of my old teachers in her fifth grade class. i'm also a school kick-off mentor, which means i'm assigned a group of five freshman who i help adjust to their first year in high school. i'm in my school's national honors society and french honors society.

I would say you fall around the 25th-33rd percentile of current Tulane students. So I certainly would say it is a long shot. Decent chances. More AP's would have helped, but nothing you can do about that now. But I would still say between 50-50 and 25% chances.

The main thing is you should definitely have some true safeties on your list, which you probably do.

why do you think my chances are so low? i've seen my stats compared to some of the other "chance me" students on here, and they don't seem too far off from the norm. i realize i'm lacking in AP's, but every other class i've taken in english, history and french since freshmen year has been an honors class. is there any other particular reason you think i don't stand a very fair chance? it just seems like you know a lot about tulane, considering you've commented on just about every thread started on the tulane board. i've been stressed about getting into this school, so if you could be a little more specific, that would be great. thanks!

Getting a 3.64 unweighted with your course load is different then getting a 3.64 unweighted with all AP's. I have done a chance me before under a different name but forgot to write down the password for that account. My statistics for that account were slightly lower then yours but my EC's were better and my course difficultly was much harder. Hate to break it to fallenchemist because he does contribute a lot of good information to the forum but i was accepted EASC with a 1 day turnaround from when my Gibson account showed all my information was submitted... It just goes to show that no one on this forum can give you a really accurate answer. Now honestly with any test score in the 500's your chances are slim, and with a course difficulty as easy as your's I wouldn't be overly confident but if you play your EC card well and write a stellar essay you never know. It would have been much more helpful to apply EA or EASC but that is over now. Just send in your application as soon as possible, Call your admission counselor a few times to check on your status (may have nothing to do with it but I called a few times and 3 hours after I called my admissions counselor and asked about my status I was accepted), and most of all make sure that your essay really demonstrates how unique a person you are.

Doesn't bother me at all, ihateapplying. You are 100% right that no one can really be accurate in these things, especially with "borderline" cases. I often won't do chance threads for exactly that reason, they really are kind of worthless. Of course once there is a decision they are not borderline, lol.

izzys, you may well be right, I may have been a bit conservative before. The other reason these are not useful though is we really cannot see your full application and how it all pieces together. Between that and the fact that we have no idea how many applications they are getting and of what quality, our guesses are only that. Now with very high (or very low) stat students, it is easier, but even in the latter case we cannot know if they are a URM, or if we do know that how much of a factor that is, or if their parents gave millions to Tulane, or whatever. Just too many unknowns and we are not the admissions office. I wish you the very best of luck. Sounds like you really want Tulane! That's a good thing, and if that came across it will help also.

Your weakness is probably in math and science so I'd say you will have a much better chance to get in if you pick a major that does not require a lot of math and science background.

you're in! the cr and w are towards the top 25% of the pool. The lit subject test is not easy--shows strong cr skills---that's what it takes in college--lots of reading! Anything in top 15% percent means excellent shot too!
