I've already accepted the fact my GPA is too low and I paid $70 to frame the rejection letter for motivation.

@sparkyboy at the same time, however, I also such a bunch of high school seniors with SAT scores < 1800 and GPAs ~ 3.6 get accepted as well. the kids who fell into this category were well-spoken and seemed to have very profound or interesting essays. also keep in mind that the pressure to have perfect stats is much greater for freshman applicants than transfers!

@jaywonlee actually, when you put it that way, that makes it seem a bit better! perhaps we'll make it to April 27th after all!

@justinetruant: the disparity between freshmen and transfer applicants is huge. i had a weighted 4.1 and 2100 on the SAT, but got rejected at UCSD. i half tried my three (now four) semesters at a CCC, and i was guaranteed admission at UCSD this time around (TAG). just gotta push through the month of april somehow.

"Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Berkeley for Fall 2012! You have been admitted to the College of Letters and Science.

In light of the outstanding credentials you presented in your application, you and your family have every reason to be proud of your academic and personal achievements. I'm 3 pages into my 7 page paper I planned to work on during spring break. At this rate I will be done by Tuesday... I'm going to start reading some books or something to get through this month.

Right now I'm doing W. T. Vollmann's You Bright and Risen Angels. It's all kinds of dense, which I enjoy, and rambles on about topics philosophic and historic, while keeping kooky, so thoughtfully Pynchonian.

Best book I've ever read, though, is probably Under the Volcano, by Malcolm Lowry. Recommend it. A+++++ would read again.

SparkyBoy: Good one, considering I am constantly logging on checking my status. Probably because last year when I applied to Harvard, one day I logged in, or tried to, and my account had vanished. Duh, obviously "no admission" and a notice was sent a few days after my account had been deleted telling me that I had not been admitted. Haha.

Since we're talking about books... I'm reading Joseph Frank's baby biography of Dostoevsky. 900+ pages for this condensed little fellow and I just now made it to page 15. Good read so far though.
