Hello, i am in a unique situation, i went 2 years to cc and was accepted to Davis, Riverside, Santa Cruz, and waitlisted to Irvine (eventually denied), i just transferred this fall to Riverside and miss NorCal so i wanted to transfer to Davis since it close to home and wanted to know my chance, will they look at me as a uc to uc transfer even though i spent 2 years at cc before joining Riverside, and since i got accepted to Davis last time, do i have a good shot again? Thanks.

Could someone please chance me!

I'm actually on the border-line on applying or not.. The reason being is because transferring just sparked up on me and for that reason I did not start my UC essays. I don't want to waste my time working hours on them because of my criteria..

I am a sophomore at SJSU right now (CSU) and know that CSU to UC transfers get low priority.. Which is the biggest reason why I'm borderline

My GPA is great (4.00) and I meet almost all the pre-reqs (Missing just one)
However, my extra-curriculars are weak because I wasn't really involved in school. I'm only in one club and only worked one summer as a tutor.

Any help/advice/facts is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Someone please chance me!
Applying from: CCC
Applying to: UCLA, UCI
Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.8 (by the end of this semester)
Major GPA: 4.0 (only took two classes for my major though because I had AP scores to fulfill my other prereqs)
Major Prereqs: Done
IGETC: Done
TAP: Yes
TAG: No
ECs: Part-time job, weekly volunteer job at Lanterman Developmental Center, Honors program (yeah I don't have many ECs :/)
Personal Statement: Working on it...I've had pretty bad situations in the past though (mom died of cancer few years ago and dad is out of a job. plus I dropped out of UCSB because of financial issues)
I'm just scared that my GPA isn't good enough for Psych but hopefully TAP will help me get in?

Looks like I'm in a long line.. but if anyone can, please chance my statistics!

UC to UC transfer!

GPA: Expecting 3.1 by the end of Fall Quarter
Major GPA: Expecting 3.4 (good chance 3.5) by the end of Fall Quarter
GEs Completed: Almost all.
Prereqs Done: Hopefully finished by Winter (definitely by Spring)
Major: Pre-business
Transferring from: UC Riverside
Applying to: UC Irvine - Pre-business
ECs: Recent part time job as assistant manager at Medusa Lounge in LA. Another job at a start up company called "Forked" in LA. Internship for Gilead in the resource management department several years back. President of hometown's longboard & skate association & sponsored rider.
Number of units completed: 65 Quarter Units

Also, I'm confident in my essays. In the first essay I discussed my major and tied in my work experience. In the second I used my experience leading the longboard community and my own self-discovery, etc etc.

Can anyone give their opinion on what my outlook should be? My academics definitely are not as strong as I would've hoped, but I've been working for several years behind it all, so I'm hoping my essays and EC's can help back myself up.

@ stevololpb18: You would be considered a UC-to-UC transfer. Since Riverside is the last school you attended. I had friends who went to UCSB, hated it, than went back to ccc and transferred to another UC. Your GPA is a low at the moment but just make sure to boost it up. Remember that 4yr-to-4yr have low priority when transferring and econ is impacted at all campuses so your GPA needs to be even more competitive than ccc applicants. It probably would have made more sense for you to hold off on transfer until this year and transferred from ccc. You've already been through the transfer process so it shouldn't be too hard for you this time around.

My brother got accepted into UCSD right out of high school but got denied to UCLA. He really wanted to go to UCLA so he decided to go to ccc for 2 years and transfer. He got accepted and transferred to UCLA in 2011 but got denied from UCSD this time. So if you get accepted the first time, there is no guarantee the second time around.

@ JulianLee93: My input on stevololpb18's situation goes for you too. Business is one of the most impacted majors for transfers and you are going to have to be even more competitive as a UC-to-UC transfer. Are you applying to UCLA or CAL? Than you can bank on your Personal Statements since UCLA and CAL are the only 2 UC's that take your PS into consideration when reviewing your application. Even though your gpa is even lower by UCLA and Cal's standards, at least your PS's will give you application a bit more weight.

@ bhargav21: Hey I think you have a great chance and you should definitely apply if its what you want, especially with a 4.0 gpa. The only concern that I can think of is whether CSU classes transfer as smoothly to UC's as CCC classes do.

@ Everyone else with a 3.7+ gpa...Based on last year, you all have a great chance and I wouldn't worry too much. You all have a solid gpa and it now just depends on your EC and PS to push you ahead of similar competition. The only Kryptonite to a 3.7+ gpa is if you have your college math or English requirement In-progress during the Spring semester before transfer. Last year there were applicants that had 3.8+ gpa that got denied because they had math or English IP during the Spring. The UCs don't know if you are going to pass the class and it probably just looks bad that you waited so long to take the basic math/English requirement. I hope this doesn't apply to anyone but if anyone may be in that situation, take the math/English requirement ASAP. The major pre-reqs are not as important as igetc. It will not kill you to not have all prereqs done.

Good luck everyone!
