How detailed are you about your work experience?

I work at a nightclub bartending/hosting/waitressing and while I am proud of the fact that I work full time and have saved a considerable amount of money for tuition, including enough money to take classes at UCB summer session and their extension program, I'm a little afraid of this type of work experience being viewed negatively. Is it okay to be vague? Can I tweak it a little and say I waitress full time at a nice restaurant? Do they require the name of the place and do you think they would call to verify?

It ill not be viewed negatively at all. UCs really like to hear about work experience, particularly if it was to pay for school or to help out the family.

I would think any work experience is better than none, as long as you aren't doing anything illegal, especially if you're using the money for your education.

As for whether they would check, no one really knows. I highly doubt they have the time to check whether peoples EC's are true or not, but you never know.

That's what I thought. I just really don't want them to google the club I work at and see a bunch of fliers advertising people to get wasted lol. Not to mention this club also has a big reputation for a lot of people taking drugs. I'd rather just say I work nights at a Denny's or something. Even though what I'm doing is legal and I don't actually sell drugs, do them, or drink on the job, I'd rather not have those types of things on their mind. I think I'll just put that I work an average of x amount of hours a week waitressing.
