Emails from UCLA

Hey CC,
In the past month alone I have received about 3 emails from UCLA, the only of the UC's telling me to apply. I was just wondering if anyone else has been receiving this and if it is for a selective set of students, or is it something been pretty much sent to everyone?
Thanks

UCLA targets different student populations for recruitment purposes to diversify its applicant pool. This is for the benefit of UCLA, not to you as a student; so don't get too excited about the emails.

I always feel like I'm crushing dreams whenever I talk to students about UCLA ... not sure if it's me or the campus <shrug>

Okay that makes sense. Yeah I was wondering how did they find interest in me, if I had not really submitted any information at the time. Well I'm still applying and hoping to get in, wish me luck!

Good luck!!!

I don't know how UCLA gets information on transfer applicants ... probably from TAG if you added UCLA as a campus you are interested in applying?

I was thinking they got my info from TAG, but I realized that I had not completed till towards the end of September whereas UCLA was sending the messages back in the middle of September.

Do you mean that UCLA is the only school in the UC system that you applied to but you have applied to a number of other schools as well. Or you have only applied to UCLA and that was it?

Sorry, I know it has nothing to do with your emails, I was just curious.

@UCBhopeful16,
What I mean is, UCLA emailed me saying to apply, but I have not applied and officially submitted any application to any school yet except for TAG at UCR. Even at the first sight of the first UCLA email, I had not submitted TAG yet. I am looking to submit applications to UCLA and other UC's, but I have not yet applied and submitted.

Hope that answers your question.

From your user name. Are you from LA? Maybe attending a school in the UCLA area they could have gathered information about students over a certain gpa at local CCC and emailed to apply?
I get emails from local colleges as well as schools on other college websites I check mark interested and now get emails from them.
Anyway, if they are sending emails to apply you probably meet requirements they accept students, not guaranteed admission but gives a better boost of confidence to apply with them showing interest. So I would say apply and good luck.

Well actually I don't live in LA anymore, I used to live there many years ago. I think they have my information by some survey or something I probably filled out, but I just can't remember when or what it was.
