Classes not related to major???

ok, so i did poorly in a class a while back and it seems to be dragging my gpa down ehh BUT its not related to my major, business/economics/accounting...(the class was human physiology) ya i know, what the heck was i doing in a physiology class. well it was back when i didnt know what i was doing...anyways, you think theyll look at that and not think much of it? or is it just the whole cum gpa thats important and not the indiviual classes taken...your opinon?

well ill be applying to ucsb and ucr maybe ucd as well. I already applied to cal poly slo, fullerton, and northridge. my gpa without the physiolgy class would be 3.5 but with it like struggling at a 3.1 ehh..i will have both the english classes done as well as the math requirement by the end of the fall, as well as speech. I could repeat the course but its ridiculously hard(like this instructor teaches her classes like its freakin' med school). plus, im focusing on the prereqs for my major next semester ya know?

It dragged your GPA down to a 3.1?? Did you fail it? You should retake it.

i dont have time to retake it and its too late now, they arent going to consider the new grade even if i did retake it in the spring.

Can one class really drop your GPA down from a 3.5 to a 3.1? Seems like a bit much. It'll be tough getting into UCSB with a 3.1. I know last year they didn't accept anyone below a 3.2.

I'm super curious, like a few others I'm sure, how is that possible? Something certainly seems off a 3.5 down to a 3.1????

well then apply for academic renewal ASAP so you can get it removed from your GPA. You might be fine for UCR but this seems really silly of you to risk getting rejected from all or almost all of the schools your apply to just because you never bothered to retake it.

I would still look into taking the class on UC extension. I know UCB has a decent amount of bio classes.

oh my mistake. it goes from being a 3.4 to a 3.0..great its just my luck. whats an academic renewal?

You have much to learn, young grasshopper. AR is when a college removes the grade from your GPA calculation as long as you meet certain requirements. Typically the requirements are waiting two years since you received the bad grade, and you have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA after the bad grade was received. Your community college might have specific requirements so be sure to ask. With AR, the UCs will not hold the D or F against you. If you can, try to get academic renewal done by the time you have to send in your January update (or before) to the UCs. Then let them know of the changes to the substandard grade you received.

lol i know right. well it would only be one year not two. maybe there could be an exception? ya know since its potentially sabotaging my future college success.
