UCSC TAG GPA Question

Hey guys, I submitted a TAG for UCSC, and my GPA is currently sitting at 3.07. However, I'm worried that after this semester it might drop below a 3.0 because of poor performance.

According to UCSC's TAG FAQ (UC Santa Cruz Transfer Admission Guarantee (UCSC TAG)), their GPA requirement is 3.0 at the time of TAG submission. It doesn't say anything about maintaining a 3.0 by the end of the fall or spring term, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is the case for certain? If my GPA drops below 3.0 after this semester, will my possible TAG admission be revoked?

Thanks for reading!

It emphasizes that you must keep up your GPA by the end of spring semester so I would say you're okay. Call UCSC just to be sure! Good luck

Did you receive a TAG decision from UCSC yet? I'm sure it'll tell you that you need to maintain a 3.0 or else it'll be revoked and you'll be considered a normal applicant.

I'm pretty sure you need a 3.0+ during fall + spring. At least that is what Davis told me. I had to have a 3.2+ at the time of application and my counselor said I would need to maintain that 3.2+ over Fall + Spring. My guess is UCSC is similar.

Alright well, I have another question then.

If I drop this class with a W and take it in spring instead, will that affect my TAG admission? Assuming I get in to UCSC by TAG, will having a W on this in progress class revoke by admission by any chance or should it be fine?

call UCSC and ask; even better, send an email so you have an answer in writing. Their website says
Quote:
TAG approval is based on the above criteria only
and that above criteria doesn't say anything about your GPA after you apply, but maybe the TAG agreement they give you will.

Ucsc

So my son who believed he had all the necessary prereqs and GPA had his TAG rejected tonight. So sad. Don't really know what that is all about. He is finishing up his apps now.

Zephyr9, yes to your question. I emailed asking the same question

"If the course you wish to drop was listed on your TAG, it could negatively effect your TAG (because you have already reported this course), but may not effect your application for admittance. If you do decide to withdraw from the course, you must let us know about the change to your TAG."
