UCSD to CSU midway through the year - Is it possible?

So I just recently started at UCSD and I really hate it. I just don't seem to like the environment and my classes aren't going so well either. I've decided to actually leave and fill out my request to leave form. So my question is, can I apply to a CSU while I'm currently attending a UC? Will I have to inform the CSU and list the classes I took on the CSU application? I plan on taking classes in the winter at my JC when I leave UCSD, so it's not like I'll be completely sitting on my a**. I really am fed up with this school and would def like a fresh start somewhere else, but I'm worried that my past could come back to haunt me. I really don't wanna stick it out all three quarter here, and feel like the life is being sucked out of me. what should i do??? I plan on taking

What do you not like about UCSD? I'm considering it as my backup school if I don't get into UCLA or UCB, which is a very real possibility for me next year.

I'm sorry to hear that man! My advice to you is to apply anyways, it's like being a transfer student again. Your academic record follows you everywhere so I'm pretty sure you would have to list it on your csu application.

I'd think long and hard before doing this. The CSU system is in worse shape than the UC system right now in terms of funding and UCSD is most definitely a better school than CSUSM or whichever one you plan on enrolling in around here. What is it at a CSU that you think will be different than what you're currently experiencing at UCSD?

Yes, you have to list all prior institutions you attended and what courses you took. And check to make sure the CSU campuses you want are accepting lower-division transfers. Take a look at Minimum Requirements | Student Transfer | CSU to get started on finding more info. Also with the budget crunch in CA most CSU campuses are not accepting apps for the spring semester, so you might have to wait to start until Fall 2013.
