| UC to UC Engineering transfer chance thread for FALL 2013
Hello everyone, the title basically explains what this thread is all about. I have seen many threads about CC to UC transfers, and even UC to UC transfers, but I wanted to make one specifically for us engineering students! I'll start off, and we'll go from there. Please try to fill in as many sections as possible, and add some if you think they are important. Good luck everybody! Transferring from: UC Santa Cruz Transfer level: Junior level transfer Major: Electrical Engineering GPA: Currently 3.4, expecting a 3.5 by the end of this Fall quarter Applying to: UCSD, UCSB, UCI GE's Completed: No(Have 2 left, will not be getting UC reciprocity) Prereqs Done: All will be done by Spring 2013, except for UCSB's intro C programming class(I will be taking a C data structures class winter quarter, explaining reason why I couldn't take intro class in the application) ECs: Vice-Chair of UCSC IEEE, Project leader for an Arduino based UAV a group is building, starting to work on a micromouse for the Micromouse competition in spring. Help set up/mentor younger students on small engineering projects IEEE hosts. Reason for Transferring: UCSC has no MechE department, and I am interested in a a ME minor. I also feel that I could benefit from a larger engineering school with a more established department Additional Comments: I will explain my mediocre gpa, and say how my projects and hands on experience really helped the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom

A 3.5 for engineering is NOT mediocre. Just sayin'.

And don't even trip, you're in for all those schools. SD **may** be an extremely slight reach because you're a UC-UC transfer and their average GPA is around a 3.4-3.5. In order to be completely safe as a UC-UC transfer, people recommend having a 3.7+ for UCLA/UCB/UCSD. But other than that, I'd say you're golden. Good luck!

I know it's respectable, but there are many others with 3.7+ gpa's, and I feel the reason my gpa isn't at that level is because I concentrate a lot on projects outside the classroom

@ascriot - Why are you interested in transferring out of Davis and possibly going to UCR? With your gpa, I would say you stand a good chance at any of those schools, probably in for sure at UCR and UCI as long as prereqs are met

I'm from SoCal so being closer to home is my main reason. Other than that, being social requires going to party which I didn't enjoy much.

Is anyone also applying to OOS schools? I'm applying to UIUC, Virginia Tech, UW Seattle, and UMD as well
