In my personal statement, I have no experience in my field, what do I put?

"What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities — and what you have gained from your involvement."

That is the personal statement. I explained how I got into the major I picked and why I picked it...but other than that I have nothing to say. My job is retail so obviously unrelated, I havent volunteered, no internships......nada. What else can I say?

That's fine. It's better to keep it short and to the point than trying take up space if you don't have anything else to say.

Even if it came out to like 240 characters? I dont know what else to add. I can talk to my current english professor to see if theres anything I can add...what he would do...and corrections...but other than that I dont know.....it just seems TOO short.

What's your major? You probably have some experience in the "field" without even knowing it. My major is sociology so it was a little difficult to actually think of things related to doing field work in sociology but when I thought about the subject and what I learned and how I applied it, I noticed that I do actually have experience in my major. So just think about what you've done with your life and try to relate it to the things you've learned regarding your major.

A 240 word essay is a fairly small; while it is important to have a straightforward and concise essay, your's raises some concern.

And sure it's at least 250 words. Mine were about 270 each.
