Hi, I'm an incoming fall 2007 freshman at UCSD. As of right now, I'm having regrets for picking UCSD over UCB. I was accepted to UCB for Spring, but I really wanted to leave my city and have fun near the beach. But now, I'm not too sure if UCSD is a good school for business. I was accepted as a Business Management major; however, I'm am looking into transferring to UCB's Haas Business school or UCLA's Business Eco major. I have not met a lot of students who successfully transfer to UCB or UCLA. I tried talking to UCSD's academic advising but they did not help much besides telling me to make sure to take the prerequisites. I'm not too sure if I want to transfer still; however, I would like that option to be available to me if I feel the need. Can anybody recommend to me what classes I should take this incoming quarter? And can anybody who has transferred to UCB or UCLA for business contact me to give me a description of what was the process like for you, like the classes you took and the extracurricular activities you did.

Be aware that transferring coursework isn't going to be as easy from UCSD to UCB, since UCB is on the semester system. Transferring from UCSD to UCLA would be cleaner... But UCB>>>UCLA, haha. Realize too that you're going to UCB, you have to apply again your junior year to get into the Haas undergraduate business program.

i thought that you apply to Haas your sophmore year in order to attend your junior year.

Not to scare you or anything but transferring to Haas is difficult for California Community College students and exceptionally difficult for every other transfer student. This is because CCC students are given preference over every other transfer student. The acceptance rate for Haas is 7% for all transfer students and around 6% or 5% are CCC students. If you want to get into Haas make sure that you complete every prerequisite for the school because if you miss one prerequisite you will not be admitted. Also keep a very high GPA and show interest in your field through internships and what not. The preq's are rather confusing for Haas especially from another UC so the best thing for you to do would contact a counselor at UCLA or UCB and ask them what classes you could take to fill your preq's and see if they can help you find out a good plan thats right for you. UCLA will also be difficult but you will have much better chance than at Haas.

Just because both UCLA and UCB will be difficult to transfer to for your major you should definitely give it a shot! the best of luck to you!

Yes, that's correct. I'm not sure exactly when apps are due your sophomore year.

i believe that applying to haas is just like applying to other undergrad majors, namely reponding to the two prompts for the personal statement.. except in jan. when you have to update your grades, you must supply an additional writing sample, which is just your response to a haas prompt, and a resume
